Brooklyn Beckham seemingly has a smooth relationship with wife Nicola Peltz Beckham’s family despite an estrangement from his own.
“[They welcomed him] like another son,” Nicola, 31, told Elle Spain in a profile published Friday, March 20. “He gets along really well with my brothers. They play soccer together a lot.”
Nicola is one of billionaire Nelson Peltz and model Claudia Heffner Peltz’s eight children. The couple, who wed in 1985, also share Matthew, Will, Brad, Brittany, Diesel, Zachary and Gregory.
Nicola and Brooklyn, 27, have been together since 2019, getting married three years later in 2022. For Nicola, she learned certain lessons from her parents that she takes into her own relationship.
Nicola Peltz Felt ‘So Lucky’ to Spend Time With Beckham Family Before Rift
“[I learned how] to feel loved,” she told the outlet. “Anything can happen, but I’ll always have a place where I’m loved. Building my own family means that: going home and feeling joy and love.”
Nicola even followed her mom’s advice about pursuing Brooklyn.
“We met at a Halloween party. I was dressed as a cat, and when I walked in, he was staring at me,” she recalled. “He was staying in Los Angeles for 10 days. I’m usually like a grandma: I go to bed really early. But to spend more time with him, I sacrificed my habits. We were together until 10 in the morning, driving around the city, exploring.”
She continued, “We made excuses not to be apart. One day, on my way home in the morning, I called my mom, and she understood right away: ‘If you’ve stayed up this late, he’s The One,’ she said. She was right.”
Nicola’s engagement to Brooklyn, however, soon sparked a rift with his famous family. (Brooklyn is the eldest son of David and Victoria Beckham.)
Why Victoria Beckham and Nicola Peltz Were ‘Like Oil and Water’
“My parents have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn’t stopped,” Brooklyn claimed in a lengthy social media statement shared in January, also alleging that David, 50, and Victoria, 51, pressured him to sign “away the rights to [his] name” before the wedding.
“[It] would have affected me, my wife and our future children,” Brooklyn claimed. “They were adamant on me signing before my wedding date because when the terms of the deal would be initiated. My holdout affected the payday, and they have never treated me the same since.”
According to Brooklyn, he had no interest in reconciling with his family. (David and Victoria also share sons Romeo, 23, and Cruz, 21, as well as daughter Harper, 14.)

“I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life. I grew up with overwhelming anxiety,” Brooklyn added in his January statement. “For the first time in my life, since stepping away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared. I wake up every morning grateful for the life I chose, and have found peace and relief. My wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press, or manipulation. All we want is peace, privacy and happiness for us and our future family.”
David and Victoria have not publicly addressed any of Brooklyn’s accusations, though they each marked their firstborn’s 27th birthday via social media earlier in March.
“Brooklyn ignored David’s attempt at getting his attention with that birthday post,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly. “He thinks it’s just another way for them to save face with the public and that it did not feel meaningful. … He is not letting any of the nonsense bother him.”
