A local woman was arrested twice during the past week and is being held without bail for offenses that include pulling a knife on a Camden police officer.

Freya M. Love, 31, was arrested March 13 by Camden police and the Knox County Sheriff’s Office for criminal threatening, criminal trespass, refusing to submit to arrest, unlawful drug possession and violation of conditions of release, according to paperwork filed in the state court in Knox County by the district attorney’s office.

According to an affidavit filed in court by Camden police, officers were investigating a complaint about Love and found her bicycle broken behind the town office. Officers then noticed a building behind an Elm Street business with a broken window. Officers went inside the outbuilding and found clothes thrown around, food, purses and a small empty baggy. One of the clothing items was one that an officer had seen Love wearing the previous day, according to the affidavit.

Officers then went to a nearby restaurant where Love worked. When informed that her belongings were inside the building with the broken window, Love responded that she was homeless and where did they want her to go, according to the police report.

Love said for police to give her a warning and when the officer notified her she was going to be detained, she said no. Love then walked away and when ordered to stop and be detained, she pulled a large knife from her right hip area and said “no, not today,” according to the affidavit.

Love then left the restaurant and into an alley between the restaurant and town office. The officer radioed for assistance, drew his gun and ordered her to drop the knife. She eventually put the knife back in its sheath and was arrested when Knox County deputies arrived.

She was found to have another dagger-like knife, the large knife and methamphetamine on her, according to the police report.

She was taken to the Knox County Jail in Rockland and released on bail. The district attorney’s filed paperwork in court, saying that the bail commissioner erred in releasing her on bail because Love was already on bail for other pending felony charges including drug offenses, as well as criminal mischief, failure to stop for an officer, three counts of disorderly conduct and multiple counts of violating condition of release.

The district attorney’s office got an arrest warrant from the court for burglary, criminal mischief and violation of condition of release at the Goodwill in Rockland on Feb. 22. Love was arrested again and taken to the jail, where she is being held without bail. She was expected to make her initial court appearance on the Rockland charges Friday.
