AUGUSTA – Maine Lottery is among 31 jurisdictions nationwide that launched a new draw game Millionaire for Life™ in February, giving lottery players the chance to win the prize of a lifetime.
Two winners in Maine have already claimed $7,500 prizes. One winning ticket was sold at Monmouth General Store while the second was sold at Shaw’s Northgate in Portland.
Millionaire for Life will offer a compelling grand prize of $1 million a year for life and a second-tier prize of $100,000 a year for life. Both the grand prize and second-tier prize have a guaranteed 20-year guaranteed payout. Players will also have the option to choose a one-time cash payout for the top two prize levels.
Millionaire for Life was designed to produce daily winners, with overall prize odds of 1 in 8.46 and grand prize odds of 1 in 22.9 million, significantly better than top prize odds in other national draw games.
“We are excited to bring this premier ‘for-life’ prizing opportunity to Maine Lottery players, who will have the chance to win $1 million every year for the rest of their life. This game is designed to live up to its name,” said Michael Boardman, deputy director of the Maine Bureau of Alcohol and Lottery Operations. “We encourage everyone to play responsibly and only play if it fits into your budget.”
Millionaire for Life tickets will be priced at $5 per play and will be available for purchase in the following lottery jurisdictions: Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia, Vermont, West Virginia and Wyoming.
As with all U.S. lottery products, a portion of every Millionaire for Life ticket purchased will help support public programs and services funded by U.S. lotteries.
“Players should feel good knowing that every time they play Millionaire for Life, their ticket is also giving back to the people of Maine,” noted Boardman. “Proceeds help fund a variety of state programs such as education, veterans assistance, conservation efforts, and more.”
To play Millionaire for Life, select five numbers from 1 to 58 and one number “Millionaire Ball™” from 1 to 5. There are nine ways to win, and players can start winning cash prizes by matching just two numbers. One from the first set of numbers and the Millionaire Ball™ number – or by matching two numbers from the first set of numbers.
