America was born in a war. And throughout our history, when diplomacy was no longer an option and our cause was right, we responded with force. When we did, we generally massively backed the war cause irrespective of political beliefs. Yes, there were some hiccups along the way — Vietnam springs to mind.
Today, our war with Iran is a response to a condition. And, yes, I believe it is imminent, that after almost five decades of brutal, murderous religious fanaticism, America and the free world are in peril, including a nuclear attack if it is not neutralized.
So, I hope it is not quaint if I express my astonishment at those in our country who not only do not support our current war effort, but who, in fact, predict and cheer for its failure! Where is the bipartisan support of barely three years ago when the U.S. House voted in January 2023 by a margin of 420-1 to condemn Iran’s government?
Sadly, I believe there is a simple answer to that question. President Donald Trump. Is it not incredulous that some of our citizens revile this man to such a degree that they cannot support a war cause that I believe strives to protect them and their fellows from an unimaginable threat to our country?
In the name of sanity and patriotism, I fervently hope and pray for increased unity across our great country in support of our current war effort to keep the United States and its fellow world neighbors safe.
