University of Maine Cooperative Extension will continue its Spring Gardening Webinar Series: Building Food Security in Maine with “Helping Food Security from Your Backyard: Simple Ways to Grow for Good” from 6-7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31.
This webinar will explore how home gardeners can help strengthen local food security. Participants will receive an overview of the Maine Harvest for Hunger program and learn key steps for donating homegrown produce, from selecting and planting crops to harvesting, distributing and reporting donations. Designed for gardeners of all experience levels, the session will offer practical guidance and firsthand insights to help participants maximize their garden’s impact in their communities. The program will be led by Kate Garland, horticulture professional, and include practical tips from a Master Gardener Volunteer.
