A federal lawsuit settlement with Live Nation will have minimal impact on Bangor’s Maine Savings Amphitheater and will not force a sale, according to the venue.
A terms sheet released Monday as part of a tentative Justice Department settlement in the antitrust lawsuit against Ticketmaster and Live Nation said the entertainment company must “divest ownership and/or control” from a list of 13 concert venues, including Maine Savings Amphitheater.
However, while Waterfront Concerts has a booking agreement with Ticketmaster, the concert giant does not own or control the venue, according to Waterfront Concerts owner Alex Gray.
Waterfront Concerts leases the land where the music venue sits from the city of Bangor and owns the venue’s buildings and equipment, according to city spokesperson David Warren.
“There is zero change,” Gray said.
As he understands it, the settlement’s only impact on the Bangor venue will be that it will get a new contract for ticketing services, Gray said. It won’t affect this year’s slate of concerts or the ownership of the venue, he said.
Waterfront Concerts’ contract with Ticketmaster was set to expire in January 2027, but under the terms of the settlement, that contract is now void and the venue is free to get a new contract with Ticketmaster or with another company, he said.
