Savannah Guthrie had an emotional message for her Today coworkers when making a surprise return to Studio 1A.
Craig Melvin told Today viewers during the Friday, March 6, broadcast that Savannah, 54, returned to her workplace with a message of “faith and resilience” one day prior.
“I wanted you to know that I’m still standing, and I still have hope, and I’m still me,” she said. “I don’t know what version of me that will be, but it will be.”

Melvin shared that Savannah thanked the Today team for “caring about my mom as much as I do” during her tear-filled speech to 100 cast and crew members.
“I’m holding on to my faith,” Savannah continued. “I still believe, and as my mom would say, ‘Where else would I go?’”
Savannah’s surprise visit to the Today set came one month after her mother, Nancy Guthrie, went missing. News broke on February 1 that Nancy, 84, had disappeared from her Tuscon, Arizona, home after being dropped off by family members the night before. Savannah stepped away from her job at Today, also dropping out of her role covering the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Questions about Savannah’s return to Today have continued to rise amid her mother’s disappearance. However, Savannah confirmed on Thursday, March 5, that she plans to come back to the morning show.
“I have every intention of coming back. I don’t know how to come back, but I don’t know how not to,” she said. “You’re my family and I would like to try.”
Friday also brought an update on the search for Nancy with new developments from investigators. NBC’s Liz Kreutz told viewers that the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Office investigators have been knocking on the doors of Nancy’s neighbors with a new question about the night she disappeared.
Three different homeowners who spoke with NBC shared that investigators were “specifically asking” if there were “issues or disruptions” with internet service on the night Nancy went missing. Several people “in the area” noted there were “glitches” with the internet on that specific evening.

According to NBC, the homeowners said they were “asleep” or “not home” at the time, so they could not speak to any glitches.
Kreutz told viewers that she asked Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos earlier this week if the possible suspect could have used a “wifi jammer.” He did not offer an outright response.
“All he would say is that his investigators, along with the FBI, are looking at every angle of that surveillance video,” Kreutz said, noting that people are still “paying their respects” at Nancy’s home.
