Former Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay is dipping her toe in the dating pool after her divorce from Bryan Abasolo.
“I’m dating someone,” Lindsay, 40, said on the Wednesday, March 4, episode of the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast, when asked if she is “with someone now or still dating around.”
While Lindsay did not share any further details about the person she’s seeing, she did offer insight into her dating life.
“I went on this one date and the guy did not know I was the Bachelorette, which is great, but it naturally is going to come out because I have to say I’m divorced, and then it becomes, ‘Well how did you meet your ex-husband?’” Lindsay said. “Then you have to talk about it. Immediately when I said it, he was like, ‘Oh, that’s right, I remember when everybody was talking about it.’”
Rachel Lindsay Was ‘Scared’ After Bryan Abasolo Proposed on ‘Bachelorette’
She continued, “Then they want to ask questions about your experience. So it’s like, are you getting to know me because you like me and you want to get to know me because that’s part of my story or are you just so curious about what it’s like to be on reality TV? And that’s the scariest thing about dating post-Bachelorette. Are you in it for me or are you just into my story? Are you curious?”
Lindsay feels like she then gets perceived as the “reality TV star.”
“They probably have had all these preconceived notions, or assumptions, about what a reality TV star is and so they start to look at you through a different lens,” Lindsay said. “It’s almost good to just get it out at the beginning. But that’s the scariest part about it.”
Lindsay noted that she sometimes has people tell her she looks “familiar,” leading her to “try to say everything but” the Bachelorette.
Rachel Lindsay Felt ‘Shame’ Amid Bryan Abasolo Divorce
“I’m like, ‘I just have one of those faces.’ They’re like, ‘No, no, no,’” Lindsay recalled. “They keep pressing, right? Like, just give it up. [I’ll say], ‘Oh, well, I have a podcast.’ [They’ll say], ‘No, no.’ And then I’ll try to say, ‘Oh, are you from Texas?’ [They’ll say], ‘That’s not it.’ And then they’re like, ‘That’s it!’ when you finally have to say it and then it’s like, ‘Here we go. Here we go.’”
Lindsay and Abasolo, 46, first crossed paths on The Bachelorette season 13, where the pair ended the show engaged. The couple then tied the knot in 2019. Us confirmed in January 2024 that Abasolo filed for divorce from Lindsay, listing December 31, 2023, as their date of separation. He also requested spousal support at the time.
The pair settled their divorce in January 2025, with Lindsay being ordered to pay Abasolo $13,257 per month in temporary spousal support and $15,000 for his attorney’s fees, as well as an additional $5,000 for forensic expert expenses.
Earlier this year, Lindsay celebrated the end of her alimony payments to Abasolo. “Finally free 💰💸,” Lindsay wrote via Instagram in January. “Closing one chapter, literally writing the next ☺️.”
In the comments section, one user asked Lindsay, “No more alimony payments???” to which she replied, “Correct!!! No more payments at all.”
