An Arizona couple has bought the Captain Nickels Inn in Searsport.
Melissa and Anthony Cardine bought the property on U.S. Route 1 after the previous owner, Dawn Gintz, completed about $1.5 million in renovations to the historic property, MaineBiz reported.
The sale was completed in January, according to state tax records.
The Cardines began looking for a bed-and-breakfast to buy in 2025 before settling on the Captain Nickels Inn, MaineBiz reported.
Gintz, who bought the property in 2019, repaired the roof, replaced the kitchen, refinished the floors, redid the hallways, installed new electrical systems and added a tavern in the inn’s Victorian-style ballroom, according to MaineBiz.
The Captain Nickels Inn is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was commissioned by Albert V. Nickels after he married his wife Elizabeth. Construction was completed in 1875.
