Following a near-death experience, Justin Hartley‘s Colter had to avoid getting caught by the police on Tracker — with help from real-life wife Sofia Pernas.
The Sunday, March 1, midseason return of the hit CBS series followed Colter as he tried to solve a case despite being on the run from the cops. He called in a favor from Billie (Pernas) who hid Colter and even distracted the authorities with a high-speed chase so he could escape.
Billie’s commitment to helping Colter led to her — briefly — being arrested for being an accomplice. She was ultimately let go and later agreed to go out to dinner with Colter.
Sunday’s episode marked Pernas’ fourth appearance on Tracker. Hartley, 49, first shared the screen with Pernas, 36, on The Young and The Restless in 2015. Years later, they reconnected off screen and exchanged vows in 2021. Along with Tracker, they collaborated on the short-lived Quantum Leap reboot.
Justin Hartley Receives Support From Wife Sofia Pernas at Golden Globes
“She’s wonderful. I mean, if I had my choice, I’d spend every minute with her,” Hartley gushed to Us Weekly in July 2024. “What’s really cool is when you meet someone that means so much to you, that you’re so proud to be with and so proud of, and just such a fan of, and to get to see her work, because she’s such a talented actor. She elevates scenes, and so it makes my job easier, actually. But yeah, it’s just wonderful to work with her.”

In addition to Pernas, Tracker has also struck gold with a wide variety of guest stars who keep returning, including Jensen Ackles, Melissa Roxburgh and Jennifer Morrison. Executive producer Elwood Reid specifically addressed whether Pernas reprising her role as Billie means Colter will finally settle down.
“It’s tricky because he’s never in one place for very long. These are conversations that I have with Justin all the time. One thing I think makes the show work is early on in each episode, you get an emotional hook with Colter about him wanting to help the person that’s asked him for help,” Reid explained. “It does feel weird where he’s like, ‘Hey, wait a minute, I’m gonna go for a five-minute booty call in the middle of the episode.’ So that’s something we haven’t been doing.”
Justin Hartley and Wife Sofia Pernas’ Sweetest Quotes About Working Together
After teasing Colter and Billie’s connection, the fictional couple took their relationship to the next level in season 2. Reid hinted that Tracker will build upon that momentum while simultaneously expanding Billie’s individual story line.
“The challenge with Billy is [that] she’s a fellow tracker. She does what Colter does. So whenever you have her in an episode, you always have to figure out something for both of them to do,” he noted. “They’re both two alphas when they’re together. We found a really fun way to use her this season.”
Tracker airs on CBS Sundays at 9 p.m. ET.
