PORTLAND — In May the Maine Venture Fund’s Maine Startup Challenge will encourage entrepreneurial thinking from all ages and across the state of Maine, stimulating the next generation of Maine business owners and entrepreneurs.
Norway Savings Bank is pleased to contribute $10,000 to the Maine Venture Fund to serve as the headline and presenting sponsor of the competition.
“The Maine Startup Challenge is a business plan competition to boost Maine’s startup ‘ecosystem’ with four tiers: K-8, High School, College, and Open,” said Nina Scheepers, principal of Maine Venture Fund. “Business plans will be judged by a panel of Maine investors and entrepreneurs, and the competition will culminate in a recognition event in Portland to celebrate the winners in each tier. We are thrilled to have Norway Savings as a Presenting Sponsor and are so appreciative of the bank’s support.”
“We’re so impressed with the purpose and scope of the Maine Startup Challenge. Last year, it drew 150 submissions and in the three years since it began, applicants have come from 15 Maine counties,” said Dan Walsh, president and CEO of Norway Savings Bank. “We’re happy to play a small part in encouraging great ideas, innovations, and thinkers who can play a key role in helping Maine’s economy and our communities flourish in the years to come.”
Applications can be submitted starting on April 1. For more information or to explore the process, visit www.maineventurefund.com/maine-startup-challenge or email [email protected].
