A winter storm expected to arrive Monday could bring heavy snow and strong winds to parts of Maine, though the exact track of the system remains unclear.
The storm will move into Maine on Monday and continue through Monday night.
Current projections suggest coastal areas are most likely to see significant snow, with snowfall totals of more than 6 inches in some areas, according to the National Weather Service in Caribou.
Wind gusts could reach 35 to 50 mph along the coast, raising the possibility of blowing snow and reduced visibility.
The National Weather Service said confidence is increasing that the storm will bring accumulating snow and gusty winds, but small shifts in the storm’s track will determine how much snow falls and where the heaviest impacts occur.
Areas farther north are expected to see lesser amounts.
Another storm system could affect the region later in the week.
