A man from Texas has been accused of fatally stabbing his mother before he fled the scene in her tan 2009 Toyota Corolla with his 4-year-old nephew.
Raymond Isaac Carmona was arrested and charged with murder, aggravated kidnapping and theft of property, according to online records viewed by Us Weekly.
Officers with the Mansfield Police Department were called to a home on Cotton Drive on January 31 just before 9 a.m. after a family member found 63-year-old Andrea Colgrove unresponsive, according to Fox 4. Upon their arrival, authorities pronounced her dead at the scene.
Colgrove’s body was later examined by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner, who determined she died from a stab wound to the neck. Additionally, her death was ruled a homicide, according to reports obtained by the outlet.

An investigation was launched into Colgrove’s death, and officers learned she had legal guardianship of her 4-year-old grandson. The young boy was not at her home, and authorities noticed that her car was missing.
Carmona, 20, was soon identified as Colgrove’s son and police named him a suspect both in the homicide and the abduction of the child.
The 4-year-old was then entered into state and national databases as a critical missing person. Additionally, an AMBER Alert was issued and Colgrove’s vehicle was listed as stolen in law enforcement databases.
Just minutes after the AMBER alert was issued, Missouri authorities confirmed that he crossed state lines when they found the Toyota Corolla with both Carmona and the child inside. Carmona was quickly arrested and taken into custody, while the child was found safe inside the vehicle. He was then released into the care of Child Protective Services.
While speaking to police, Carmona reportedly admitted that he was involved in his mother’s death. However, it is not clear what exactly he told police during the interview or how he said he was involved in his mother’s killing.
After the arrest was complete, Mansfield police thanked Missouri and Arkansas Highway Patrol officers for their help locating Carmona during the manhunt.
“This case is a powerful example of law enforcement professionals across state lines working together to protect our communities and diligently serve victims of crime,” Mansfield police said in a statement, per the outlet.
Carmona was indicted by a grand jury during a hearing on February 6 on charges of murder, aggravated kidnapping and theft of property (motor vehicle). He remains in custody at Tarrant County Jail on a combined bond of $1,007,500.

He is next scheduled to appear in court on February 23.
It is not currently clear if Carmona has retained legal representation or entered a plea to the charges he faces.
The Mansfield Police Department did not immediately respond to Us’ request for comment regarding the incident.
The investigation into Colgrove’s death remains ongoing. Police are currently working to determine exactly what happened prior to the murder, as well as if Carmona had a motive in the killing and fleeing with his young nephew.
