A new discount gift store will open this spring in Bangor.

Construction for Five Below, a nationwide chain known for selling items that cost less than $5, is scheduled to be done around April 6, a worker told a Bangor Daily News reporter Friday.

It will open at 480 Stillwater Ave., in the former Party City location in the strip mall near the I-95 ramps. There are signs saying the store is coming soon and that hiring is now active.

This is the fourth Five Below to open in Maine, joining stores in South Portland, Augusta and Waterville.

Party City went out of business in late 2024 and the storefront has sat vacant in the year since. However, Party City will soon open an outpost at Staples, located 180 Bangor Mall Blvd., where people can buy balloons, decorations and other supplies.
