Authorities have recovered a pair of black gloves amid the ongoing search for Savannah Guthrie’s mom, Nancy Guthrie.
Investigators told NBC Tucson affiliate KVOA on Wednesday, February 11, that a pair of black gloves were located in the expanded search around Nancy’s Catalina Foothills home. The gloves have now been submitted for DNA analysis.
The 84-year-old was reported missing on February 1 by a family member who called 911. (Alongside Savannah, Nancy shared daughter Annie and son Camron with husband Charles Guthrie, who died after suffering from a heart attack when Savannah was 16.)
The FBI released the first photos and video footage of a potential suspect on Tuesday, February 10. In one photo, the person appeared to be armed with a gun in their waistband.
Detained Man’s Relative Reveals Where He Was When Nancy Guthrie Went Missing
“Additional recovered images from the same camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance, including two videos of the individual,” FBI Director Kash Patel wrote via X at the time. “Anyone with information, please contact 1-800-CALL-FBI or visit http://tips.fbi.gov.”
The black-and-white footage showed a person using their fist, which had a glove, attempting to cover the camera outside of Nancy’s residence. The person was then seen turning around and walking back to the front entry way to grab a branch before placing that over the camera.
Savannah reposted a clip via Instagram and wrote, “Someone out there recognizes this person. We believe she is still out there. Bring her home. Anyone with information, please contact 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324) or the Pima County Sheriff’s Department 520-351-4900.”
In a separate post, Savannah also shared images of the person and wrote, “We believe she is still alive. Bring her home. Anyone with information, please contact 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324) or the Pima County Sheriff’s Department 520-351-4900.”
Hours later, law enforcement confirmed that the Pima County Sheriff’s department — with assistance from the FBI — brought in a person for questioning about Nancy’s disappearance.
Man Detained in Connection With Nancy Guthrie Disappearance Speaks Out
“Earlier today, Pima County Sheriff’s Department deputies detained a subject during a traffic stop south of Tucson,” Sheriff Chris Nanos shared in a statement via X on Tuesday. “The subject is currently being questioned in connection to the Nancy Guthrie investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.”
The sheriff’s department also confirmed it was conducting a “court-authorized search” of a home in Rio Rico, Arizona. The man who was detained, Carlos Palazuelos, was later released after being questioned by authorities.

He denied having any knowledge of Nancy’s disappearance, per an interview with ABC15 Arizona’s Ford Hatchett. Palazuelos claimed his car was pulled over in Rio Rico, Arizona, and was told he was being “detained for kidnapping.”
“I asked, ‘The kidnapping of who?’ and they told me this lady … I don’t know her name,” Palazuelos said before confirming Nancy’s name with Hatchett’s help. “I told [officers], ‘I work in Tucson for GLS. I might have delivered a package to your house, but I never kidnapped anybody.’”
Palazuelos’ mother-in-law, Josefina, later addressed his whereabouts on January 31 during an interview with NewsNation on Wednesday. She said, “Yeah, he was here [at my house]. … I’m positive he was here at my house. He was here for his kids on the weekend.”
