A shooting in Flint, Michigan, has taken the life of a pregnant woman and her unborn child, who spent two days in the hospital, fighting for his life, police told Us Weekly.
Ashley Williams, 34, was killed when gunfire broke out the evening of Tuesday, February 10, on the southern side of the city.
Williams was 36 weeks pregnant at the time of her death.
She was rushed by ambulance to Hurley Medical Center, where medical staff were able to successfully deliver her son, Isaiah, alive.
Isaiah died on Thursday, February 12.
The boy had been on life support in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Hurley Children’s Hospital, according to a GoFundMe campaign launched in the wake of the tragic shooting.

“2 days will never be long enough,” reads an update to the account posted early Thursday. “We are heartbroken … Isaiah put up a good fight, but God chose to have him rest easy with his momma.”
The GoFundMe page is seeking financial help for the burials of Williams and her baby.
Kathy Williams, Ashley’s mother, spoke to MLive, and said she was contacted by the hospital around 2:30 a.m. Thursday morning. “His little lungs weren’t developed enough,” she told the site. “Hurley worked on him for a long time. He just crashed. I’m just glad that Ashley let me borrow him for a couple days and meeting him. He’s in mom’s arms now.”
Kathy said she is eager to see the “monster” behind the shooting caught.

“Now I have to get justice for Ashley and my grandson,” she told MLive.
“No mother should ever have to bury her child, and our hearts are broken as we try to support our sister through this unimaginable pain,” the page reads. “We are hoping to lighten her burden by giving Ashley the proper burial she deserves. … The funds raised will go directly toward Ashley’s burial expenses
“The suddenness of this tragedy has left us with many unexpected expenses, and we are doing everything we can to make sure Ashley is put to rest with dignity,” added the fundraiser. “The one thing we expected was time — more time with Ashley, more time to prepare for Isaiah’s arrival. Sadly, that time was taken from us, and now we are reaching out for help from our community.”
“If you are able to donate, your support will help ease the financial burden on our family,” the page explained. “If you cannot donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser and keeping Isaiah and our family in your prayers. Every bit of support, whether financial or emotional, means the world to us.”
