Maria Shriver is questioning why the police took “so long” to obtain surveillance camera footage in connection with the disappearance of Savannah Guthrie’s mom, Nancy Guthrie.

In a Tuesday, February 10, Instagram post, the journalist and former first lady of California reshared images and footage released by the FBI earlier that day of a potential suspect in the case. The photos, taken from a Nest doorbell camera outside Nancy’s home on the night she went missing, showed an individual clad in a ski mask appearing to tamper with the camera.

“These video and photos were recently released in the Nancy Guthrie kidnapping case. Maybe now that they are everywhere there will be some answers, and Savannah and her family will get their mama home,” Shriver, 70, captioned her post.

The former Today show Sunday edition coanchor then questioned the time it took to obtain the footage from Nancy’s doorbell camera following her suspected abduction in the early hours of February 1.

Everything to Know About the Ongoing Search for Nancy Guthrie

“But it is interesting where this footage has been. How did they only find it now? What does Nest have to say about this?” she wrote. “The FBI director says they have been working with everyone, including the private sector to recover the video, but why has it taken so long? I’m glad they have it finally, but there has got to be a story of where this footage has been.”

“If you are able to offer any assistance in recognizing the person in the video, call the numbers for the FBI Tip Line or the Pima County Sheriff’s Department on the last slide,” she continued. “Let’s bring Nancy home!”

Us Weekly has reached out to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI for comment.

Earlier on Tuesday, FBI Director Kash Patel released the first images of a potential suspect in Nancy’s disappearance, writing via X that “over the last eight days, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been working closely with our private sector partners to continue to recover any images or video footage from Nancy Guthrie’s home that may have been lost, corrupted, or inaccessible due to a variety of factors – including the removal of recording devices.”

“The video was recovered from residual data located in backend systems,” he continued.

Patel went on, “Working with our partners – as of this morning, law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance.”

Patel encouraged anyone with relevant information to call “1-800-CALL-FBI or visit http://tips.fbi.gov.”

The images and footage released on Tuesday showed an individual wearing a backpack and ski mask. The person also appeared to have a gun holstered in the waistband of their pants.

Today show cohost Savannah, 54, shared the images and video via her own Instagram and wrote, “We believe she is still alive. Bring her home.”

“Someone out there recognizes this person. We believe she is still out there. Bring her home,” she added.

Nancy, 84, was reported missing from her home in the Catalina Foothills area of Arizona, just outside of Tucson, on February 1. She was last seen on January 31. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI are treating the case as a kidnapping.
