Our nation’s governors will be the ones to protect the health and welfare of American citizens all across this country in the next three years, against the overreach of our federal government.

I believe Dr. Nirav Shah has the perfect combination of moral clarity and executive experience to wisely lead our state in the face of unprecedented national chaos.

Many people only know him as a medical doctor. He also holds a law degree. He has worked internationally as an economist. As deputy director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, he managed a staff of thousands of employees.

He captivated the hearts of Mainers with his honest, reassuring demeanor at daily televised press conferences during the COVID-19 pandemic. So much so, that folks lined up in 19-degree weather at an outdoor protest rally last month to sign my petition to get his name on the June primary ballot. Over and over again, I was greeted with the exclamation: “We love Dr. Shah!”

Because he is committed to running toward a problem, because he requires his advisors to challenge his opinions, because he pursues solutions that honor our human dignity, he has my vote. And for all of these reasons, he ought to have yours, too.
