A Falmouth man allegedly forced his way into a Portland home, where he assaulted the man who lived there.
Devon Dwyer, 34, was charged with assault, reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, burglary, refusing to submit to arrest or detention, criminal mischief, unlawful possession of methamphetamine, aggravated drug trafficking, and violating his conditions of release, according to Brad Nadeau, a spokesperson for the Portland Police Department.
Dwyer allegedly kicked in the front door of a Munjoy South Street home about 12:54 p.m. Sunday, and while there, he is accused of threatening the man who lived there with a gun before striking him with it and fleeing.
Police later spotted Dwyer driving an electric scooter on Silver Street, where they tried to stop him about 3:40 p.m., Nadeau said Monday morning.
Dwyer allegedly fled until he crashed the scooter into a police cruiser at the intersection of Spring and High streets.
During his arrest, Dwyer was allegedly wearing ballistic plates under his clothes and had a handgun, a knife and 91 grams of fentanyl.
He was taken to Maine Medical Center before being transferred to the Cumberland County Jail.
