Season 20 of Sister Wives centered around Kody Brown’s self-imposed ex-wives apology tour — but are they all on good terms following their four-part reunion special?
“Trust once murdered, cannot be resurrected, usually,” Kody, 56, told host Sukanya Krishnan during part 4 of the Sister Wives: 1-on-1 special which aired on Sunday, February 1.
Kody proceeded to call betrayal “an illusion” after splitting from exes Christine Brown, Janelle Brown and Meri Brown in 2021, 2022 and 2023, respectively.
He confessed, “When I have sorted this out long enough, this idea that the illusion of betrayal in divorce or the illusion of betrayal in relationships, maybe I’ll be OK. But I am not there yet.”
Kody previously visited all of his ex-wives during season 20 of the TLC series to apologize for the end of their respective relationships and how he handled the mass breakups publicly. While Janelle’s apology went off without a hitch, Kody’s proclamation that he did “love” Christine, 53, prior to their split didn’t sit well with her or her new husband, David Woolley.
Meri, 55, also had a tough conversation with Kody after he started to bring her friends and their alleged gossip about him into the discussion.
“I want all the hurt to end. I want everybody to move on. I want everybody to feel free and I’ll move on with forgiveness,” Kody said during Sunday’s reunion special, noting he was ready for closure.

Christine Brown, Janelle Brown Share ‘Sister Wives’ Relationship Status
Meri Brown
Meri was Kody’s first wife, marrying him in 1990. They legally divorced in 2014 so Kody could marry Robyn, 47, and adopt her three children from a prior marriage. Meri and Kody remained in a spiritual relationship until they announced in a joint January 2023 statement that they’d parted ways.
During season 20 of Sister Wives, Kody and Meri argued over her friends — BFF Jen in particular — and them allegedly slamming him over the years. While Kody claimed during Sunday’s reunion that he thought Jen “possibly” influenced Meri to leave him with her advice, he vowed not to “trash talk” her anymore.
Kody told Krishnan that he and Meri are “definitely friendly” after all the drama.

“I’ve said it to him, ‘Let’s just be kind. Let’s not do this,’” Meri said on Sunday of her mindset toward Kody. “And if he and Robyn want to have a relationship with me and want to move forward from here on out and be kind, I would be open to it.”
Meri also applauded Kody for his apology tour, saying, “I love that he did it.” She shared that she is “really happy” in her own life and while Meri said Kody did the “apologies he felt were necessary,” he didn’t “owe” her “anything” at this point.
When it comes to the future between her and Kody, as well as her former sister wives, Meri added, “I would like honestly, genuinely, I’d like to be in a place where I could have conversations with each of the four of them and be good. I don’t have to trust them with my life. It doesn’t have to be that, but to be in a place where it’s just comfortable and we can let the past go because we’re never going to see eye to eye on it.”
Janelle Brown
Janelle, 56, was Kody’s second wife. The pair tied the knot in 1993 and remained spiritually married until December 2022 when Janelle announced their separation. Janelle confirmed during the Sister Wives: 1-on-1 special that she and Kody had remained on good terms since his apology in North Carolina earlier in the season.
“I thought it was very nice. I felt sincerity from it. And there were some things like especially about the early years that were very healing for me to hear. I think that was great,” Janelle explained, noting it could spark something in all the rest of them.
She added, “Maybe there will be more peace among all the adults. I think there was some sort of karmic thing that got put to bed.”
Christine Brown
Christine was the third woman to marry Kody in 1994. She was the first to leave him, announcing their split in November 2021. While there was tension between Christine and Kody as well as between Kody and her new husband, David, during his visit to Las Vegas with them, the exes appear to be on the same page about leaving the past in the past.
“I’ve changed so much. I’m a different person now,” Christine said on Sunday, noting she doesn’t think there was anything else left for her or her ex to apologize for.
Christine concluded, “I’m just moving on. I hope they all move on too. … Just let it go and move on. Let’s just think [about] what we’re going to do to build from here. And realize that we all said and did things that, you know, let’s just leave it as it is because you can’t fix it.”

Robyn Brown
Throughout the reunion, Kody backed his wife Robyn — whom he legally wed in 2014 after spiritually marrying her in 2010 — as she came under fire from his exes for a variety of reasons. When Meri and Christine claimed they had valid reasons not to “trust” Robyn, alleging she would tattle on them to Kody and use their words against them, Kody claimed they were making her a “scapegoat.”
Robyn, meanwhile, stood her ground and insisted that there was no reason for Meri to be bad at her — or distrust her after years of friendship. While she didn’t exactly make amends with any of her former sister wives, Robyn was still in Kody’s corner when the taping wrapped.
“I think I’m fine,” Robyn said on Sunday’s episode when asked if she needed an apology from Meri, Janelle or Christine at this point. “Forgiveness is a very personal experience and journey. It’s not so much about the other person, it’s about yourself.”
