The likelihood that Maine will see snowfall from a nor’easter that is expected to blow through the Gulf of Maine has significantly decreased, according to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service.
Forecasters with the NWS Caribou office expect cold temperatures this weekend, with some wind gusts moving through coastal Maine on Sunday. Coastal and Down East communities may see some light snow showers Sunday evening.
Overnight temperatures through Friday night into Saturday morning are expected to range from negative 20 to around zero degrees. Daytime temperatures Saturday and Sunday will be seasonable, ranging from high single-digit values to the mid teens across central Maine, while daytime highs in northern County towns could climb to the high teens.
Looking to southern Maine, similar conditions will continue through the weekend, although some coastal flooding is possible as the nor’easter moves through the region.
No precipitation is in store for the foreseeable future and weekday temperatures will hover around the teens through central and northern Maine, along with Down East regions. Southern Maine can look forward to daytime temperatures in the high 20s and low 30s at the beginning of the week.
