Football fans are not happy with Matthew McConaughey’s latest Uber Eats commercials.

Uber Eats started rolling out their latest batch of ads on Sunday, January 25, during the AFC Championship game between the New England Patriots and Denver Broncos. McConaughey, 56, continued his sidegig as the face of Uber Eats and subsequently kicked off a friendly rivalry with Bradley Cooper.

The 30-second commercial featured McConaughey driving a pickup truck alongside Cooper, 51, who was running on the street in a Philadelphia Eagles hat.

McConaughey yelled “food” more than 10 times, changing the cadence in his voice with each delivery.

“Don’t you have somewhere else to —,” Cooper started to ask before McConaughey cut him off with a rather loud “food” yell.

“It’s all food, Bradley,” McConaughey screamed as the commercial came to an end. “Are you in the mood for some food?”

The ad ended with a teaser for what appeared to be a longer ad, set to roll out during Super Bowl LX on Sunday, February 8.

Social media was flooded with a barrage of hate comments about the new ad during the Patriots-Broncos matchup. Several viewers were quick to note how “annoying” the commercial was.

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more maddeningly annoying commercial than this stupid Matthew McConaughey ‘Fooooood’ Uber Eats commercial,” one social media user wrote on X. Another added, “I was gonna download Uber Eats until they showed that mcconaughey ad and now instead I’ll pray on their downfall.”

A third person added, “Uber Eats really said: Matthew McConaughey… but unbearable.”

One X user noted that the ad made them “never” want to order delivery “of any kind ever again” while another was happy that this was something the internet could agree on.

“In these trying times, it’s nice to see us come together as a nation and agree these Matthew McConaughey Uber Eats commercials are terrible,” they wrote.

The negative backlash to McConaughey’s commercials was a far cry from the love he received last year when making his debut as the Uber Eats spokesperson during the 2025 Super Bowl.

The social media comments continued on Sunday as more Uber Eats ads were released.

“Holy s***. If you thought the first Uber Eats ads with Bradley Cooper were annoying, wait until you’re subjected to this new McConaughey one,” another X user wrote.

Despite all the negativity, there were a few social media users excited for the ads.

“These Matthew McConaughey Uber eats commercials are the best and never get old,” one X user shared. Another shared their love for the actor, writing, “I love the new Uber Eats commercial with Matthew McConaughey!! It’s funny … plus … he’s in it!!”

Uber Eats rolled out all the commercials featuring McConaughey via YouTube on Monday, January 26. A second ad featured McConaughey playing with tiny versions of himself and Cooper, discussing how football is an “obvious” ploy to sell food. The ad ended with McConaughey taking the smaller version of himself and slapping the smaller version of Cooper in the face.

The ads continued with McConaughey interrogating the San Francisco 49ers mascot, Sourdough Sam, in a third commercial.

“Why is a gold miner mascot named after artisanal bread?” the ad’s description wondered. “Is he silent? Or has he been silenced?”
