Six people died in a plane crash Sunday, according to an airport spokesperson, disputing an earlier total reported by the federal government.
A business jet crashed at the Bangor International Airport around 7:45 p.m. Sunday. The jet flipped over and caught fire as it was taking off, according to federal authorities and air traffic controller recordings.
There were six people listed on the flight manifest and all are presumed deceased, airport spokesperson Aimee Thibodeau said Monday at 1:30 p.m.
That number contradicts what the Federal Aviation Authority said around 11 a.m. The FAA’s preliminary report said seven people died and one person was seriously injured.
No one was taken from the crash to the hospital, Thibodeau said.
Identities of the people on board are not being released, pending positive identification, she said.
