Sir David Beckham has refused to answer questions on his relationship with his son at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

On Tuesday, Brooklyn Peltz Beckham broke his silence about his estrangement from his parents, saying in a post on social media he does not want to reconcile with his family.

Asked about his son’s statement in Switzerland on Tuesday by Sky’s business correspondent Paul Kelso, Sir David refused to comment.

He was asked if he had a message for his son and if he was disappointed that family business was being aired in public.

In a statement shared on his Instagram story, Brooklyn offered his explanation for the alleged rift.

The 26-year-old wrote: “I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private.

“I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.

Brooklyn Peltz Beckham ‘doesn’t want to reconcile with family’

“All we want [is] peace, privacy and happiness for us and our future family.”

Brooklyn, the eldest son of footballer Sir David and former Spice Girl, Victoria Beckham, married Nicola Peltz in 2022, the daughter of American billionaire businessman Nelson Peltz and former model Claudia Heffner Peltz.

The couple live together in Los Angeles.

Sir David, who is now co-owner of Inter Miami CF and has made millions from endorsements and commercial partnerships, was in Davos recording a podcast.

The former midfielder received his knighthood for his services to sport and charity from the King at an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle in November.

He married his wife Victoria, who is now a fashion designer and businesswoman, in 1999. Thanks to a combination of sports and entertainment credentials paired with savvy business instincts, “Posh and Becks” quickly became Britain’s best-known power couple.

They have four children together, three sons, Brooklyn, Romeo, and Cruz, and one daughter, Harper.

There has been widespread media speculation about a rift in the Beckham family since Brooklyn’s wedding to the daughter of the Peltz’s in 2022, but the six-page statement, shared with his 16.1 million followers, is the first public acknowledgement of any bad blood.

It’s been widely reported that Brooklyn did not attend his dad’s 50th birthday celebrations in May.

Brooklyn now claims he was in the UK, but that his dad only agreed to see him under the condition that his wife was not invited.

Sky News has contacted David and Victoria Beckham for comment.
