The director who filmed Jennifer Lopez’s Glambot video at the 2026 Golden Globes responded to fans who claimed the singer was “rude” during their interaction.

Canadian filmmaker Cole Walliser, who got Lopez, 56, to take part in his ongoing Glambot fashion close-up series for E! on the Sunday, January 11, awards ceremony’s red carpet, took to TikTok on Sunday, January 18, to hit back at criticism directed at the star.

“I didn’t take it personally, it didn’t feel rude in that moment,” Walliser, 44, told fans in his video as he addressed why Lopez didn’t chat to him ahead of his cameras rolling. “One, she’s just down to business … she’s ready to go inside, she knew what she was going to do when she got into the position and I think it was just, like, unfortunate that the position was facing away from me.”

Lopez, who attended the ceremony as a presenter, attracted criticism by Walliser’s social media followers after he posted his Glambot video via TikTok after the event. “My favorite part was when she didn’t look at, speak to, or smile at you,” commented one fan, while another wrote, “Jesus Cole, did JLo even speak a word to you?”

Walliser defended Lopez in his Sunday post by shedding light on the pressure celebrities are under when he requests their participation in his Glambot set-up. “Glambots are completely elective, nobody’s forcing you to do these things,” he explained. “If you want to do it, you can, if you’re in a bad attitude, you don’t … have to do it. Anybody that stops, I already like you because you’re taking the time to do my thing and this is generous of you.”

As for Lopez’s recording, Walliser added she has been “getting ready” and he knew the filming was going to be rushed due to the ceremony commencing. “At the moment, I’m not, like, ‘Hey, turn around,’” he said. “That moment didn’t feel rude.”

Walliser, who has filmed a string of high-profilers as part of his Glambot series including multiple appearances by Ariana Grande, Brad Pitt, Elle Fanning, Taylor Swift and more, added that he has “never felt” that any celebrity had been rude to him on the red carpet. “When people are distracted, or less chatty, or thinking about other stuff, I don’t take it personally,” he told fans.

The director also thanked fans for “having my back” as a celebrity filmmaker.

Glambot, which was launched by Walliser for E! In 2016, has created multiple talking points over the years, including the moment Too Hot to Handle’s Harry Jowsey pulled curious expressions while posing on the 2025 Emmys red carpet. “Did he just cry right before?” a fan commented on Walliser’s video, while a second person wrote, “Was he cutting onions backstage?”

Jowsey, 28, hilariously addressed the public fascination at the time, commenting on the post himself, “Sorry guys I put eye drops in before I did it because my eyes were cooked 😭😭😂😂😂. I look chopped here, probably should of waited hahahahhahah.”
