After several onscreen surprises — including a shocking cast exit — Virgin River is finally coming back for season 7.
Netflix announced that new episodes will be released on March 12, 2026, with a first look at Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack (Martin Henderson) following their wedding. The sneak peek comes after season 6 ended with an offscreen departure, love triangle complications and several open-ended story lines.
Based on Robyn Carr’s book series, Virgin River follows the lives of residents living in a small town in Northern California, including Mel and Jack. The hit series, which premiered in 2019, also stars Colin Lawrence, Annette O’Toole, Tim Matheson, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Sarah Dugdale, Zibby Allen, Marco Grazzini, Mark Ghanimé and Kai Bradbury.
After many ups and downs — including a miscarriage in season 5 — Jack and Mel finally ended season 6 as husband and wife. Despite their past obstacles, showrunner Patrick Sean Smith exclusively told Us Weekly why fans shouldn’t be worried about the fan-favorite couple’s next chapter.
Which ‘Virgin River’ Stars Are — And Aren’t — Returning for Season 7?
“We will continue to see Mel and Jack move down their path towards parenthood,” Smith explained to Us in December 2024. “We get to live in the newlywed bliss that they have and the challenges that come with that as a new married couple.”
He added: “I think that with the pace at which we’re moving comfortably gives us a lot of opportunity to just keep telling more and more stories for as many seasons to come as possible.”

Elsewhere in the finale, exes Brie (Allen) and Brady (Hollingsworth) slept together. They didn’t get their happily ever after — yet — because after Brie told her boyfriend, Mike (Grazzini), about her affair with Brady, he chose to propose.
“From day 1, it’s been an uphill battle for them,” Hollingsworth, 41, told Us in November 2025 of the embattled pair. “But I think that that’s what makes them so inspiring and what makes them a couple that people are rooting for.”
Hollingsworth praised Virgin River for making the romance feel realistic.
Will Mel and Jack Have a Baby? What to Know About ‘Virgin River’ Season 7
“They do face all these challenges — much like our own personal lives,” he noted. “No one’s perfect. But they do have something. They have this chemistry — this magnetic pull together.”
As a result of Brady and Brie’s strong connection, Hollingsworth urged fans not to give up hope, saying, “Against all odds, they’re going to figure something out and they’re going to survive. I don’t think [the proposal] will get in [Brie and Brady’s] way but who knows? You never know. It definitely complicates things a little bit.”
He concluded: “I personally don’t think that Brie’s heart is necessarily with Mike. You’ll see both of them trying to navigate what this new normal looks like. Whether it involves Mike or not is really something that [you have to wait and see]. Brady just wants to be the best version of himself. Part of that is trying to give Brie space to figure out what she wants and let her come to him. I think that’s very hard for Brady to do.”
Virgin River is currently streaming on Netflix.
