A Dominican man will spend five years in prison for trafficking more than 44 pounds of fentanyl into Maine.
U.S. District Court Judge Stacey Neumann handed down the sentence against 30-year-old Alexis De Leon on Tuesday in Bangor, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.
De Leon and his co-conspirators funneled fentanyl into Maine from Massachusetts, using Facebook and other means to contact associates, distributors and customers, the U.S. attorney’s office said.
Federal drug agents and Maine state troopers stopped De Leon in June 2024 while he was headed to Bangor with a shipment of fentanyl.
De Leon was found to have trafficked just over 44 pounds of fentanyl into Maine, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.
He pleaded guilty to his role in the conspiracy on March 11, 2025.
His co-defendants, Ramon De Leon and Mandi Ford, have pleaded guilty as well. They await sentencing.
