Finding Prince Charming may have only aired for a single season, but it broke new ground for LGBTQ+ dating shows.

Lance Bass hosted the Bachelor-esque show for a single season on Logo in 2016, as 13 eligible single men competed to win the heart of a “prince charming,” Atlanta-based interior designer Robert Sepúlveda Jr. (A second season of Finding Prince Charming was ordered by Logo in October 2016, though it never materialized.)

Finding Prince Charming faced controversy before it even premiered when it was reported that Robert had been a male escort prior to starting his interior design career. Robert addressed the controversy during an interview with Us Weekly in August 2016, insisting that “everyone is worthy of love” regardless of their background.

A tragic coda to Finding Prince Charming’s legacy occurred in December 2025 when former contestant Chad Aaron Spodick died at age 42 from undisclosed causes.

Lance told Us in October 2016 that hosting Finding Prince Charming was the proudest moment of his entire career.

“I’m genuinely so happy every day going to shoot. This is my first job where I’ve wanted to go to work every single day,” he told Us.

He added, “I couldn’t say that about anything else I’ve done, not even with ‘NSync. Sometimes in ‘NSync, I just wouldn’t want to do a show that night, but with this show, I’m so into every aspect of it. I’m there early and leave late.”

Lance and his husband, Michael Turchin, welcomed twins — son Alexander James and daughter Violet Betty — in October 2021.

“I can not express how much love I feel right now,” he announced via Instagram at the time. “Thank you for all the kind wishes. It meant a lot. Now, how do you change a diaper??! Ahhhhhhhh!”

He has reunited with ‘NSync bandmates Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Chris Kirkpatrick and Joey Fatone on a few special occasions in recent years, including to record new song “Better Place” for Timberlake’s 2023 movie Trolls Band Together.

Before Finding Prince Charming premiered in September 2016, reports emerged that Robert worked as an escort before becoming an interior designer.

Logo responded with a statement to TheWrap, saying, “Finding Prince Charming is a reality series about 13 people looking for Mr. Right. As in real life, the show will cover a range of topics people face when dating, from first time love to coming to terms with one’s past, fear of commitment and even HIV. We look forward to taking viewers on a journey of the human spirit in search of love.”

Robert broke his silence on the controversy in an interview with Us, where he argued that his past should not have any impact on Finding Prince Charming.

“Well, everyone is worthy of love,” he said. “It doesn’t matter what you’ve done in your past, escorting or anything else.”

Robert said he was open with all of Finding Prince Charming’s bachelors about “my past and these guys were open with me about their past.”

“They were honest and open with me about their past, so I felt like I couldn’t stand before them and not be open about my past,” he added.

Robert picked hair stylist Eric Leonardos as his winner in the November 2016 finale — though he confirmed he was single again by March 2017.

“I can’t even go on a hike without people asking me about my relationship status,” the interior designer told Us at the time. “Eric is a super, super sweet guy, but we’re not together and I’m completely, completely single.”

These days, Robert describes himself as a “visionary, designer and entrepreneur,” via his Instagram.

He caused a minor controversy in August 2025 when he leaked private DMs he’d allegedly exchanged with Crumbl Cookies cofounder Sawyer Hemsley. The Crumble executive subsequently came out as gay.

“Over the past little while, there have been people online trying to define me, twist things, and share conversations in ways that feel harmful. Instead of letting others write my story, I want to share it in my own words,” Hemsley explained via Instagram in August 2025.

He went on, “The truth is, over the past few years I’ve come to understand and accept that I’m gay. It’s taken me a long time to really process this part of myself and even longer to feel comfortable enough to say it out loud. For most of my life, I didn’t have the clarity to answer the questions or respond to the rumors. Coming to terms with it has been overwhelming and, at times, scary — but it has also brought me peace, joy, and authenticity that I wouldn’t trade for anything.”

Following his breakup with Robert, Finding Prince Charming winner Eric returned to his career as a hair stylist. He now owns the Coachella Valley Hair Salon, which has been in business in California for more than 20 years.

Eric disclosed during his time on Finding Prince Charming that he was living with HIV. He has continued taking part in activism around HIV/AIDS since the show aired in 2016.

“In my very first interview, I mentioned my HIV status. I shared my story — at this point, I had become very comfortable with it,” he told The Body in December 2016. “I have always felt strongly about talking about it with men I am dating and most of the time I like to just get it out of the way. However, I want the men I date to know me for me. I am not HIV. It is just a virus that is in my body.”

Brandon Kneefel

Runner-up Brandon became a yoga instructor and a spiritual guide following his time on reality TV. He launched the spirituality-themed podcast “Spiritual Superhero Podcast with Brandon Kneefel” in 2020.

Dillon Powell, a former ballet instructor and swimmer, reportedly worked as a marketing executive after wrapping Finding Prince Charming.

He shared a photo with fellow Finding Prince Charming competitor Brandon in November 2016 after finishing in third place overall. (Brandon was runner-up to winner Eric.)

“We might not have Robert’s heart, but we have each other! Brandon Kneefel is an amazing guy and friend,” he declared via Facebook. “Our turn will come soon enough! Thanks Logo and Finding Prince Charming for the amazing opportunity and allowing us to put our hearts on the line.”

Justin Roisom

Justin — who finished fourth overall — became a competitive runner and competed in the Portland Marathon in 2024.

He raved about his experience on Finding Prince Charming after he was eliminated in week 7 of the competition.

“I had no idea what to expect when walking through the doors of the #findingprincecharming mansion on that first night,” he admitted via Instagram in October 2016. “What I found was a group of amazing men who I shared an incredible experience with. I wish I could individually thank each and every one of you who have showed me love, kindness, and support throughout this journey. ❤️. So, it’s kisses for now and see you later ;).

Chad Aaron Spodick

The real estate agent made the controversial decision to quit Finding Prince Charming in week 6.

Chad announced in September 2016 that he was fired from his job because of his association with the gay dating show, despite previously telling his boss that he was filming Finding Prince Charming.

“Fired without notice because ‘of the liability of my tv venture’. Discrimination? Boss knew before. Great timing,” he tweeted at the time.

Reality TV Tragedies: The Saddest and Most Shocking Deaths

Chad later founded his own aviation company, Goldwing Jets. His friend Kate Werbowski confirmed in December 2025 that Chad had died at age 42 from undisclosed causes.

“Chad was the type of person who poured himself into others. He lifted up his friends, encouraged everyone around him to grow, to advocate for themselves, and to believe in their own worth,” Kate wrote. “His love for animals was unmatched — he cared deeply for every creature, especially his four beloved dogs and his bird, Cosmo. The world was brighter with Chad in it, and those who were lucky enough to know him felt the warmth of his heart every day.”

Robby LaRiviere

Finding Prince Charming’s sixth place bachelor, Robby, parlayed his fame on the reality series into a career as a “lifestyle expert, TV personality and celebrity hair stylist,” according to his website.

“Robby LaRiviere has not only transformed hundreds of people on TV but he has touched the hearts of millions of viewers around the globe,” his biography read. “The breakout star this past season on Logo’s Finding Prince Charming, LaRiviere continues his journey of spreading love, light, and laughter through beauty.”

Since Finding Prince Charming aired, Robby has made appearances as a stylist on the Hallmark Channel and HSN.

He and his husband Gavin Laiche celebrated their second wedding anniversary in June 2025.

Paul Hollowell

Seventh place contestant Paul now works as a consumer marketing executive for brands like Guess, Williams-Sonoma and Charlotte Russe, according to his public LinkedIn profile.

Shortly after Finding Prince Charming aired, Hollowell reflected on the impact of the groundbreaking dating show.

“It’s such a humbling experience to have folks approach me who watch Finding Prince Charming,” he wrote via Facebook in December 2016. “No matter what city I’m in, their warmth & support makes me feel part of a community.”

Danique McMillan

The business analyst landed in eighth place on Finding Prince Charming. He has chosen to live outside of the spotlight since the show aired.

Sam has mostly kept out of the spotlight as well since quitting Finding Prince Charming in week 3. His private Instagram account describes him as a “philanthropic advisor” and “former TV news anchor” who now lives in Austin.

Jasen Kaplan

The celebrity makeup artist worked with Eva Longoria, Cyndi Lauper, Tori Spelling and Wonder Woman star Lynda Carter since he finished in 10th place on Finding Prince Charming.

Page Six broke the news that Kaplan died in New York City at age 46 in December 2025. Kelly Osbourne paid tribute to her late friend at the time, writing, “I’m devastated. I love you so much @JasenKaplan. Thank you for all the love, laughter and joy you brought [to] my life. I hope you are at peace now. Life will never be the same without you! RIP my dear friend.”

Brodney McClinton

Brodney — who finished in 11th place — has worked as a personal trainer and fitness influencer for more than a decade. He most recently partnered with BeWell Fitness.

When his Finding Prince Charming elimination aired in September 2016, Brodney threw some shade at Robert for eliminating him so early.

“There isn’t much I don’t know, but then again i dont [SIC] know everything, but if it’s not my place to expose it, then I won’t,” he quipped via Facebook. “I wasnt [SIC] there to start drama, I honestly wanted to see how it would go, unfortunately i was only ‘great on paper,’ and he was…handsome. Right?”

Nick Barbati

The 12th place contestant reflected on his experience shooting Finding Prince Charming shortly after the show wrapped in August 2016.

“Too crazy to think, they’d never believe,” he wrote via Instagram.

According to his LinkedIn, Nick has been the Vice President for Student Affairs at Rider University in Lawrence Township, New Jersey, since May 2025.

He celebrated his 40th birthday with a poignant post in February 2025. In the Instagram message, he reflected on how the milestone birthday once “seemed [too] impossibly distant for me to imagine.”

“So much happened in my 30s. Dreams came true. Nightmares too,” he wrote. “But I am here today in what I believe is the most beautiful part of the world enjoying wonderful friends, great food, and health that I cannot take for granted. I’m thankful to God and my parents for every breath I’m taking today.”

Charlie Erikson

Little is known about the 13th place contestant’s life after Finding Prince Charming. His Instagram account is private.
