Britney Spears celebrated Christmas at home in California with her son Jayden James while his big brother, Sean Preston, spent the holiday with the pop star’s family in Louisiana.
“She had an amazing time with Jayden on Christmas,” a source exclusively tells Us Weekly. “They laughed a lot and bonded more than they have in a while.”
The insider shares that Spears, 44, and Jayden, 19, enjoyed a “really delicious glazed ham that a close family friend made” and also “watched movies, played and listened to music.” In addition, a “few good family friends stopped by to wish them a merry Christmas,” according to the source.
“It was a really beautiful and memorable time,” the insider adds. “It deepened their connection.”

Meanwhile, Preston, 20, flew to Spears’ home state, where he spent time with his grandparents Jamie Spears and Lynne Spears, aunt Jamie Lynn Spears, cousins Maddie, 17, and Ivey, 7, and other family members at the Zoey 101 alum’s house.
“Britney was really hurt that Preston didn’t spend Christmas with her and Jayden, but he chose not to,” the source tells Us. “She tried to convince him, but he wasn’t ready to meet her halfway.”
Britney became estranged from most of her family during her 13-year conservatorship, which a Los Angeles judge terminated in 2021 after the “Gimme More” singer described it as “abusive” during a bombshell court hearing. However, Britney reconciled with Jayden last year and has since seen Preston a few times too.
“Preston feels really comfortable with his grandmother and his cousins and family in Louisiana, and he thought it would be a nice way to spend Christmas this year,” the insider explains of Britney and her ex-husband Kevin Federline‘s eldest child, who moved to Hawaii with his dad in 2023.
The source tells Us that Britney sent Christmas gifts to Preston in Louisiana, and she “got jewelry” from an undisclosed “family member.”

Although Britney and Preston have “a little conflict” to work through, the insider says they are “both very committed” to “making strides with healing their relationship.”
“They still go through some hard times because of the falling out,” the source shares. “Preston feels isolated sometimes when he’s around her, and they’re working through that.”
With a new year approaching, Britney hopes to continue making progress with both of her sons.
“Things have gotten a lot easier in their relationship since the boys turned 18,” the insider tells Us. “No one is telling them what to do and when to do it. They’re free to live the way they want, and that’s been a blessing for Britney. It’s now up to her and the boys on how their relationship develops. No one else is in control of that. The boys also understand more now on an emotional level of what Britney’s actually been through.”

The source adds that Britney, Preston and Jayden are “going to get together more often in 2026,” and she feels optimistic that they “can eventually take family vacations together and just do normal family activities like going shopping and going out to eat.”

Britney has not shared any photos from her Christmas celebrations with Jayden this year, but Jamie Lynn, 34, took to Instagram on December 25 to post a picture with mom Lynne, 70, daughters Maddie and Ivey, husband Jamie Watson and Preston at church.
Three days later, Britney sarcastically called out her family for commemorating the holiday without her.
“Merry late Christmas to my beautiful family who have never disrespected me, harmed me, ever done anything completely unacceptable or caused unbelievable trauma, the kind you can’t fix,” she wrote via Instagram. “To my dear sweet innocent family … so so sorry I was busy this Christmas but I will definitely show up and surprise you soon … I can’t wait …. hello, beautiful Ivy [sic] … I just want to hold you, my love … Godspeed, friends.”
