Netflix gave Us an early Christmas present by releasing the first Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man movie trailer.
The minute-long clip, which dropped on Wednesday, December 24, opens with a graying Cillian Murphy reprising his role as “gypsy gangster” Tommy Shelby.
“What ever happened to Tommy Shelby?” a voiceover could be heard saying, showing clips of the aged Tommy living a secluded life.

“I’m not that man anymore,” Murphy, 49, said in his infamous Birmingham drawl. A female voice — presumably his sister Ada Shelby (Sophie Rundle) — could also be heard telling Tommy he has to “come back.”
Flashes of explosions and anger, on Tommy’s part, show on screen with a brief look at Barry Keoghan’s debut. The 33-year-old Irish actor hasn’t shared many details about his character just yet, but it appears he’ll be covered in tattoos for the role.
“I’d always wanted to be part of it,” Keoghan told Empire in an interview released earlier this month. “But the schedules never worked, or I didn’t fit the description of what they were looking for.”
Murphy called Keoghan, which sealed the deal for the young actor.
“I said, ‘Of course, bro. At the drop of a hat,’” Keogan said. “I was like, ‘Freakin’ yeah. Anything to work with yourself again.’”
As the trailer concludes, Murphy can be seen wearing his signature suit and newsboy cap while stomping through the streets of Birmingham once again. The iconic Peaky Blinders bell sounds on screen before it was revealed that the film will get a select release in theaters on March 6, 2026.
Murphy starred as Tommy Shelby in six seasons of the show, which ran from 2013 to 2022. He starred alongside Rundle, Paul Anderson, Joe Cole, Finn Cole and the late Helen McCrory in the British series.
After years of being asked if he would return to the role, it was confirmed in June 2024 that Murphy would be starring in a Peaky Blinders film, which was written by the show’s creator, Steven Knight.
“It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me …” Murphy declared in a statement at the time. “It is very gratifying to be collaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders. This is one for the fans.”
At the time, Netflix also announced that Keoghan would be joining the cast along with newcomers Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, Stephen Graham, Ned Dennehy, Packy Lee, Ian Peck and Jay Lycurgo.

While most of the show took place in the aftermath of World War I, the film is set to take place during the second World War. The movie’s official logline explains that Tommy Shelby will be returning “to a bombed Birmingham” where he “becomes involved in secret wartime missions based on true events, facing new threats as he reckons with his past and rising national stakes.”
While this movie isn’t the end of the Peaky Blinders franchise for good, it will conclude Tommy Shelby’s chapter in the franchise.
“It’s not over, let’s just put it like that,” creator Knight told BBC Breakfast in February. “I’m not allowed to announce it, but I’m just saying that the world of Peaky will continue.”
