Immigration is not a new phenomenon. Since the first humans walked on this earth, there has been a need for migration. In our Unitarian Universalist faith, which draws on Judeo-Christian and rationalist traditions, we embrace belief in the “Inherent worth and dignity of all beings.”
Raiding neighborhoods with masked officers, engaging in mass deportations where people who have fled persecution are returned to their persecutors, is morally and spiritually corrupt. People who are trying to survive and do their best to live with stability and safety deserve the same respect and dignity as everyone else.
