Lucas Bravo has several upcoming projects that inspire him as an actor after expressing frustration with how stagnant his role on Emily in Paris has become.
“I have some great, great projects lined up — I’m booked until next December,” Bravo, 37, told People on Sunday, December 21, about what he is looking forward to after season 5 of Emily in Paris was released on Netflix.
He continued: “So I honestly can’t wait to get to those projects, because I’m getting into a lot of diverse, crazy challenging roles, and I’ve been waiting for that for a long time. I’ve been working hard to get here.”
Bravo rose to fame playing Gabriel on Emily in Paris when it debuted in 2020. Since then, Bravo expanded to film roles in Ticket to Paradise and The Honeymoon. He recently made headlines after questioning his story line on Emily in Paris.

“In season 1, there was a lot of me in him. But as they made him kind of unaware of his surroundings, of the dynamic, always victimizing and always being completely lost in translation and oblivious to anything that is happening around him and being manipulated by everyone, it kind of became not fun for me to shoot,” he told IndieWire in October 2024. “Or to see a character I love so much and brought me so much, being slowly turned into guacamole. I really grew apart from him.”
Bravo even hinted that he might step away from Emily in Paris.
“It makes me question if I want to be part of season 5 — because my contract ends at season 4. I really want to see if Gabriel gets back to his fun, cheeky, playful, alive self,” he continued. “Because three seasons playing melancholic, sad, depressed and lost is not fun anymore. It’s a comedy, everybody is having fun around me, everybody is jumping around, and I’m just slowly sinking into God knows what.”
Bravo ultimately signed on to appear in season 5 after Netflix renewed the series. At the time, a source spoke to Us Weekly about what Bravo’s frustration meant for Emily in Paris, saying, “The show is Emily in Paris — not Gabriel in Paris. Everyone is so upset about the remarks he made. There is going to be a lot of tension.”

Gabriel was ultimately absent from most of season 5. Creator Darren Star said the new installment of episodes has “the right amount” of Gabriel.
“He really wasn’t consulted [on Gabriel’s season 5 arc], and he just chose to come back to the show,” Star told Decider on Friday, December 19. “The story line worked out.”
Star went on to say that viewers saw as much as they needed to of Gabriel in season 5.
“Because that’s not where Emily’s story was, or where we ever planned it to be in season 5,” Star continued. “The story line wasn’t about Emily and Gabriel. At the same time, it was great to have him and keep him in the world of the show.”
Emily in Paris is currently streaming on Netflix.
