Cowboys’ CeeDee Lamb Offers Update After Leaving Game With a Concussion

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb took to Instagram on Friday, December 5 to update fans on his status after leaving the Cowboys’ game Thursday night against the Detroit Lions with a concussion.

“Blessed [is] an understatement. Love y’all,” he wrote over a photo of himself on the field.

Though some Cowboys fans took the update as good news, the team has yet to offer an official update on his condition.

Lamb, 26, left the Cowboys’ 44-30 road loss to the Detroit Lions on Thursday, December 4 in the third quarter after failing to make a catch in the end zone from quarterback Dak Prescott. Lamb hit the ground hard and rolled over into what is known as the “posturing” position.

Why NY Giants Star Cam Skattebo Was Fined Before Suffering Gruesome Injury

Posturing, according to the Cleveland Clinic, “causes your legs to become rigid and straight, while your arms flex upward and hold tensely to your chest. It’s usually a sign of brain damage or disrupted brain activity.”

Lamb left the game for the medical tent and did not re-enter. Now in concussion protocol, Lamb will have to wait at least 10 days before he can return to the field.

After the game, Nick Harris of the Star Telegram caught up with the four-time Pro Bowler, who gave him “a head nod” when asked how he was feeling.

His injury comes three weeks after he and teammate George Pickens were benched to start the Cowboys’ Monday Night Football game against the Las Vegas Raiders. The official reason was that the two violated team rules, and Lamb admitted after the game — a 33-16 win — that the pair were out “a little late, after curfew.”

Team owner Jerry Jones expressed his disappointment with the two receivers in a radio interview the next day.

“You can think about it in a lot of ways,” Jones, 83, told 105.3 The Fan. “Everybody knows that when you’re not on the field, it’s not just hurting you. Of course, these guys are competitors. And that’s about as hard of a thing they deal with, is not getting to get out on the field if they’re ready to go.”

He added, “But the other thing is, they always have the feeling — without question — that you’re letting the other guys down. It’ll have you look at your watch.”

Even if Lamb is able to return from his latest setback as soon as possible, it may be too late to salvage the Cowboys’ season. Thursday’s loss devastated their playoff hopes, dropping them to 6-6-1 on the season and pushing their playoff odds down to 9 percent, according to The Athletic.

Prescott, 32, didn’t mince words when he described the state of the locker room.

“The guys are pissed off right now,” he said, per Jon Machota of The Athletic. “I don’t think this is any deflated moment, like our hands are up, [saying] we’re done. No, absolutely not. I think you’re gonna get a team that’s pissed. I hope it pisses people off the right way and we use it as fuel.”

The silver lining might be that the Cowboys’ next game is at home against the Minnesota Vikings, who are just 4-8 on the season. It’s a virtual must-win if Dallas hopes to keep its slim playoff chances alive.
