In light of the revelations that Secretary of “War” Pete Hegseth reportedly giving a spoken order to kill all crew members aboard a vessel suspected of smuggling drugs in the Caribbean Sea on Sept. 2 and President Donald Trump’s pardoning of the drug kingpin former president of Honduras, voters need to ask Sen. Susan Collins, again, about the Nov. 7 BDN headline “Susan Collins casts decisive vote to defeat legislation limiting Trump’s ability to attack Venezuela.”
It is clear to me the more than 15,000 troops, a submarine, an aircraft carrier, fighter jets, etc. are not there to interdict any drugs. (Especially as there is little evidence presented that the outboard boats and the crews on them are guilty of anything or a direct threat to the U.S.)
We have seen this movie before where we get sucked into a foreign war by a lying egotistical president, a feckless secretary of defense and a compliant Congress. The last one was also certified by Collins.
The current gunboat diplomacy situation is likely a violation of international maritime law, piracy and murder. A South American jungle war on “Trumped” up false charges would be far worse.
