Prince Harry is taking shots at President Donald Trump.
During a surprise appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on Wednesday, December 3, Harry interrupted Stephen Colbert’s monologue to do a bit about auditioning for a Hallmark movie.
“You Americans are obsessed with Christmas movies and you’re clearly obsessed with royalty,” the Duke of Sussex, 41, quipped.
“Hold on,” Colbert, 61, replied. “Look, I wouldn’t say we’re obsessed with royalty.”
Harry hit back, saying, “Really? I heard you elected a king.”

The crowd started to boo as Colbert noted that Harry “has a point.” Harry is referencing the No Kings movement, which kicked off when Trump’s birthday parade in June prompted protests across the country.
“And after making such a big deal about my great great great great great great grandfather, George III,” Harry added on Wednesday. Colbert called the former king “kind of a jerk.” (George III was notably the recipient of America’s Declaration of Independence in the 1770s.)
“OK, let it go,” Harry joked, before he started his Hallmark audition.
Trump, 79, has yet to publicly respond to Harry’s joke — but the two definitely have history.
When Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, left the royal family in 2020 and relocated to America, Trump took to social media and responded. The president, who was finishing out his first term at the time, stated that he “will not pay for their security protection” in the United States.
“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have no plans to ask the U.S. government for security resources,” Harry and Meghan’s rep told Us Weekly in March 2020. “Privately funded security arrangements have been made.”

Trump has also publicly criticized Meghan, 44, later that year after she posted a video urging United States citizens to vote in the November 2020 election. (Former President Joe Biden ultimately beat Trump that year.)
“I would say this — and she has probably heard that — I wish a lot of luck to Harry because he’s going to need it,” Trump told reporters in September 2020, noting that he was “not a fan” of the Duchess of Sussex.
Earlier this year, Trump discussed Harry and Meghan once again, when the duke’s immigration status made headlines.
“I’ll leave him alone. He’s got enough problems with his wife. She’s terrible,” Trump told The New York Post in March. “I think poor Harry is being led around by the nose.”
Trump has, however, publicly praised other members of the royal family during his second state visit to England this past September.
“I just want to say that His Majesty has also raised a remarkable son in His Royal Highness, Prince of Wales. Really amazing,” Trump said during the state banquet, discussing Prince William. “We’ve gotten to know you and I think you’re going to have unbelievable success in future.”
