Streaming platforms hold vast and accessible collections of movies from all over the world, allowing audiences the chance to dig into ones they may not have otherwise discovered.

In December 2025, Watch With Us wants to highlight three movies in particular that we think deserve a little more attention, featuring stars like Julianne Moore and Robert Pattinson.

First up, we’ve got The Canyons, an erotic thriller-drama set in Los Angeles and starring Lindsay Lohan. We also picked Maps to the Stars, a scathing show business satire from David Cronenberg.

See the full list of films below, and where you can stream them.

HBO Max’s New Movies and TV Shows in November 2025: ‘Materialists’ and More

‘The Canyons’ (2013)

A wealthy movie producer named Christian (James Deen) discovers that his girlfriend, Tara (Lohan), is having an affair with Ryan (Nolan Funk), the lead in Christian’s next low-budget B-movie, who just happens to be dating Christian’s assistant, Gina (Amanda Brooks). The four young Los Angelenos become caught up in a dark web of sex and deceit, as an increasingly paranoid Christian spirals violently out of control.

Directed by Paul Schrader (First Reformed) and written by Bret Easton Ellis (American Psycho), The Canyons was widely panned upon release but has gained a small but steadfast following of fans who consider it to be a misunderstood film. Sleazy, cynical and intentionally ugly, The Canyons is a difficult but fascinating watch and a sharper commentary on Hollywood, performance and capitalism than it’s given credit for.

Stream The Canyons now on MUBI.

‘Eagle vs Shark’ (2007)

Thor: Ragnarok and Jojo Rabbit director Taika Waititi’s feature debut stars Jemaine Clement as a socially inept video game store clerk named Jarrod gets romantically involved with the equally shy Lily (Loren Horsley). When Lily crashes Jarrod’s costume party and impresses him with her gaming skills, the two begin an oddball relationship that soon involves Jarrod’s plans to get revenge on his high school bully.

Awkwardly funny and charming, Eagle vs Shark is a slight but enjoyable first film from Waititi and showcases much of the director’s signature deadpan comedic sensibilities that would go on to shine even further in films like What We Do in the Shadows and Hunt for the Wilderpeople. A small-scale comedy with a big if offbeat heart, Eagle vs Shark is a delightful, unique and entertaining movie with a standout performance from Clement.

‘Maps to the Stars’ (2014)

This darkly funny satire stars Julianne Moore as Havana Segrand, a troubled Hollywood star who is considering a comeback by playing her own legendary actress mother in a film. At the same time, she hires a strange young woman named Agatha (Mia Wasikowska) to be her personal assistant, who harbors a dangerous secret. Meanwhile, the son of Havana’s therapist (John Cusack), former child star Benjie Weiss (Evan Bird), grapples with his own return to the spotlight after a stint in rehab.

Don’t Miss These 3 Underrated Thrillers on Netflix and More Before November Ends

While outwardly silly and absurd, Maps to the Stars is still a scathing satire of Western civilization and the entertainment industry that manages to be unsettling and disturbing. Bearing obvious links to David Lynch‘s Mulholland Drive, Maps to the Stars is equally interested in the perversions and darkness that drive the movie business, couched by a creepy atmosphere and an unnerving but tremendous performance from Moore.

Stream Maps to the Stars now on The Criterion Channel.
