
ATHENS, Ohio — The University of Maine men’s basketball team was defeated at Ohio on Wednesday night, 79-57.
After a close battle through the opening eight minutes, Ohio strung together a 9-0 run to make it 23-12 with just under seven minutes to go in the opening half.
Ohio maintained a double-digit lead as the team went into halftime up 15 at 38-23.
Logan Carey had six points and a pair of rebounds in the first half for the Black Bears. Amare Allen had five points off the bench in five minutes of action.
Ohio maintained a double-digit lead through the second half, ultimately coming away with the victory, 79-57.
Keelan Steele had a team-high 14 points on 6-for-8 shooting for UMaine. Carey made it three-straight games with double-digit scoring as he had 10 points on 50% shooting from the field. Maine forced 11 turnovers and held Ohio to 46.5% shooting from the field.
The Black Bears (0-10) head to Miami (Ohio) for their next contest Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
