BREWER – Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center is preparing to light up the holiday season with its cherished annual “Lights of Life” tree lighting ceremony. This special event, now in its 25th year, invites the community to honor or remember loved ones and caregivers while spreading hope throughout the holiday season.
Lights of Life will take place on Thursday, Dec. 4 at 5:30 p.m. at the Lafayette Family Cancer Institute, 33 Whiting Hill Road in Brewer.
“This season, as we mark the 25th anniversary of Lights of Life, we’re not just lighting a tree — we’re honoring the quiet strength of those currently battling illness, those who carry the burden of loss, and the selfless dedication of caregivers,” says Ava Collins, MHA, FACHE, president, Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center.
Lights of Life donations help patients with essential needs including travel, lodging and nutrition support.
“Each light symbolizes more than a memory; it represents the compassionate care that has guided countless patients and families through their most challenging times,” continues Collins. “Community support shines far beyond the season, helping Eastern Maine Medical Center continue its mission of healing, comfort, and service to the community.”
Community members can purchase a light in honor or memory of someone special by visiting northernlighthealth.org/EMMCLights or call the Northern Light Health Foundation at 207-973-5055.
