BELFAST — The Underground Lounge will host Maine native songwriter Louisa Stancioff on Friday, Dec. 5 at 17 Court St., just under the Basil Burwell Theatre. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and music begins promptly at 7 p.m.
Stancioff has become an esteemed local sensation with her catchy indie sound that draws on folk, rock, pop and her own Balkan heritage. She has the rare ability among songwriters to create deeply personal narratives that somehow resonate with each listener, and to create a groove that’s impossible to ignore.
Yep Roc Records describes her 2024 debut release, “When We Were Looking” as a “snapshot-filled album that blurs the lines between indie stoicism and folk sincerity – a lush, cathartic work that hints at everything from Phoebe Bridgers and Arlo Parks to Big Thief and Waxahatchee as it learns to find the beauty in grief and rebirth.”

The Underground Lounge continues its tradition of supporting homegrown talent and bringing quality live music to Belfast during the long Maine off-season. Admission is $10-$20 (cash only) at the door. Food and drink will be available by donation.
