A tractor-trailer overturned on Interstate 295 in Freeport on Friday morning.
Nikola Loncar, 42, of Colorado was driving a 2024 Mack tractor-trailer, near exit 24, about 5:36 a.m. when he drifted off the right side of the road, hit an embankment and overturned off the road, according to Maine State Police Lt. Aaron Turcotte.
Firefighters had to remove Loncar, who was wearing a seat belt, from the wreck, Turcotte said.
He was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where he was treated for injuries not considered life-threatening.
Turcotte said that exit 24 has been closed so crews can clean up the wreckage.
“With expected heavy traffic across Maine today, motorists are encouraged to be patient and consider alternative routes to help ease congestion,” he said.
