The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum Kandi Burruss and her estranged husband, Todd Tucker, were dealing with legal drama days before their shocking split announcement, Us Weekly can exclusively report.
On November 3, Burruss Tucker Restaurant Group, which is run by Burruss, 49, and Tucker, 52, filed court docs pleading for an emergency court hearing against the landlord for their restaurant Blaze Steak & Seafood, which they opened in 2020. The landlord, Montego Pacific, sued Burruss Tucker Restaurant Group in July accusing the company of owing $154,139 in back rent and another $56,495 for repairs done to the location. Burruss Tucker Restaurant Group denied all claims of wrongdoing.
In the new filing, Burruss and Tucker’s company alleged that while the lawsuit over alleged rent is pending, the landlord decided to take matters into their own hands.

The company alleged the landlord took out the signage at Blaze and leased the premises in question without consent or consultation from Burruss and Tucker’s company.
In addition, Burruss Tucker Restaurant Group claimed that the landlord cleared out fixtures and other property without consent. “The [landlord] has taken the law into their own hands and unjustifiably initiated a dispossessory of [Burruss Tucker] from the leased premises,” the paperwork alleged.

Burruss’ company said it had been prohibited from operating their business since July 2024. It accused the landlord of acting with malice and having caused continuous and intentional harm.
In response, Montego asked for the request for an emergency hearing be denied. The landlord said it had already terminated the lease in question and Burruss Tucker had no right to the location anymore.
In the original lawsuit, Montego accused Burruss and Tucker’s company of failing to pay certain charges due per the agreement and failing to keep the “premises in good maintenance and repair.”

“As a result of Tenant’s breach of the Lease for failure to pay rent and other monetary charges due, [the] landlord has suffered damages,” the suit alleged.
Burruss previously spoke out about the lawsuit and denied any wrongdoing. “It really was a disagreement about some repairs that they made and then who would be responsible for it,” she said.
The former RHOA star added, “So, we were just going back and forth about that, basically, and that’s why it turned out into what it turned into. But it looks like we’re gonna come to some agreement … so it’ll be fine.” Her company denied all allegations of wrongdoing.

On Friday, November 21, Kandi told People she was splitting from Tucker after 11 years of marriage. “After deep thought and a lot of prayer, I’ve made the decision to move forward with a divorce. This is a difficult and emotional time, but my focus remains on protecting my peace, being the best mother I can be, and co-parenting with love and respect.”
She added, “I’m stepping into a new chapter pouring into my work, my family, and my own growth. I’m grateful to everyone who supported us throughout the years, and I ask for privacy, grace, and understanding as we navigate this transition with our family.”
