Don’t mess with the Lambily.
Mariah Carey‘s fans flooded her collaborator Muni Long‘s Instagram with outraged comments after the rising R&B star parodied the legendary chanteuse in a video posted on Monday, November 24.
The clip promoting Long’s new song, “Delulu,” features a Carey impersonator auditioning for the “Hrs and Hrs” singer and giving her pointers on how to sing. Throughout the skit, the impressionist complains about “overhead lighting” and “not getting paid enough to be here.” She also says she does not “acknowledge time,” much like the Songbird Supreme.
At the end of the video, Long, 37, stamps the word “Delulu” on a headshot of Carey, 56, and tells the camera, “I just don’t like when other people sing my songs.”
Mariah Carey Through the Years: From Humble Beginnings to Pop Megastar
While Long intended for the sketch to honor Carey (she wrote in the caption that she “can come around to people singing my songs if this [is] who [is] singing it”), many of the five-time Grammy winner’s fervent fans commented that it was “disrespectful.”
“You’re about to be Muni Long-Gone,” one Instagram user joked.
“Shading Mariah in MARIAH’S SEASON good luck girl,” another wrote, referencing Carey’s honorific title as the Queen of Christmas.
“Career too young for this level of disrespect. Humble yourself,” a third fan commented.

“Disrespecting the legend you’ve consistently praised and that gave you so many opportunities. nasty work!” another wrote.
“Don’t mess with THE D-I-V-A that’s M-C!!! Not too late to delete this!” a fifth user commented.
Later on Monday, Long took to her Instagram Story to clear the air, writing to her 1.3 million followers, “Y’all don’t be delulu. I would never disrespect Queen Mariah!!!!!! Forever a Lamb.”

Carey, meanwhile, has not publicly responded to the video.
Mariah Carey Defends Her Infamous ‘I Don’t Know Her’ Shade
Over the years, Carey and Long have had a mostly good rapport. They collaborated on a 2024 remix of Long’s song “Made for Me,” and Long covered Carey’s 2005 hit “We Belong Together” at the iHeartRadio Music Awards earlier this year.
However, some fans felt Carey threw shade at Long in September when she was asked to share her reaction to the tribute performance, which she had witnessed in person.
“I didn’t even hear the cover. I didn’t know it happened. No one told me,” Carey said during a GQ interview before clarifying, “I love Muni Long! I just didn’t know that she had done ‘We Belong Together.’”
Carey said she was “honored and flattered” by Long’s homage but added, “I just don’t like people doing my songs,” which clearly inspired Long’s new “Delulu” video.
“Muni, I think Mariah was confused by the question, she love you downnnnn,” one Instagram user reminded Long in a comment on Monday’s post, to which another fan begged the two singers to “work this out on the remix!”
