Amazon Prime Video‘s greatest strength is the size of its movie library, but that can also be a weakness when the lesser titles outnumber the great ones.
Fortunately, it’s not impossible to find some of the great and underrated movies on Prime Video, if you’re willing to put in the work.
The Watch With Us team has already done that for you this month, with our selections for the three new Prime Video movies to watch in November, as ranked by IMDb rating.
This month’s picks include a romantic comedy, a historical drama and an Oscar-winning biopic.
3 New Prime Video Movies to Watch in October 2025, Ranked by IMDb Rating
3. ‘The Cutting Edge’ (1992)
The Cutting Edge may have come out in 1992, but this sports rom-com feels like an ’80s movie at its core. That’s part of its charm, and it’s kind of like Dirty Dancing on ice. D. B. Sweeney stars as Doug Dorsey, a hockey player whose professional dreams were dashed by an injury that significantly reduced his field of vision.
For Doug, his last hope for Olympic glory comes from figure skater Kate Moseley (Moira Kelly). Her ambitions for Olympic gold were broken during the previous games when her old partner literally dropped her on the ice. Kate’s attitude may have had something to do with that, since she’s spoiled and hard to get along with. Regardless, her talent on the ice complements Doug’s, and they may be a formidable skating pair if they can figure out how to work with each other.

2. ‘Rob Roy’ (1995)
Before Liam Neeson was “Taken” away by a late career action surge, he starred in the prestige historical drama Rob Roy. Given its proximity to Mel Gibson‘s Braveheart, some comparisons between the two films are inevitable. Both movies tell the stories of Scottish warriors who stood up to the British, although Rob Roy MacGregor (Neeson) lived about five centuries after Braveheart‘s William Wallace.

In the 18th century, Rob Roy works hard to protect and feed his people, but he’s still forced to take a loan from the Marquess of Montrose, James Graham (John Hurt). When Graham’s friend, Archibald Cunningham (Tim Roth), steals the money Rob Roy was going to use to pay back the loan, the Marquess tries to blackmail him into testifying against one of his enemies. Rob Roy’s refusal leaves him branded as a criminal, but his enemies are greatly mistaken if they think that will stop him from fighting to reclaim his lands and his honor.

1. ‘A Beautiful Mind’ (2001)
A Beautiful Mind plays a little fast and loose with the real events that took place during the life of mathematician John Nash. Oscar voters didn’t care about any inaccuracies when they awarded it Best Picture, and gave the Best Director and Best Supporting Actress awards to Ron Howard and Jennifer Connelly, respectively. Russell Crowe was also nominated for Best Actor for his turn as Nash.
Nash’s gift for numbers takes him far in the ’40s and ’50s, and he becomes renowned for his theories. He also meets Alicia Larde (Connelly) and eventually starts a family with her. However, Nash is drawn into a government assignment by Department of Defense agent William Parcher (Ed Harris). This sends Nash down a perilous road that ultimately forces him to confront the imperfections of his own mind and his apparently growing mental illness.
