Charlie Kirk’s wife, Erika Kirk, hoped the pair would be growing their family when he was fatally shot earlier this year.
“We wanted to have four [children],” Erika, who shared two kids with Charlie, revealed during a recent sit-down with Megyn Kelly. “And I was praying to God that I was pregnant when he got murdered. … Both of us were, we were really excited to just expand our family.”
Erika noted that having another baby “would be the ultimate blessing out of this catastrophe,” adding, “Now when I see young couples, I tell them, ‘Please, don’t put it off.’ Especially if you’re a young woman, don’t put it off. You can always have a career, you can always go back to work. You can never just go back to having children.”
As Erika wiped away her tears, Kelly reassured her that “one day” her son and daughter “will find out they’re Charlie Kirk’s children and they’ll know what that means.”

Charlie and Erika met in September 2018 and got engaged two years later in December 2020. The pair tied the knot in May 2021 and went on to welcome their daughter, Sarah Rose, in August 2022 and a son in May 2024 whose name has not been revealed.
Charlie, a controversial right-wing conservative commentator and cofounder of Turning Point USA, was shot while speaking at Utah Valley University on September 10. He was rushed to the hospital but ultimately died from his injuries. He was 31.
“It’s with a heavy heart that we, the Turning Point USA leadership team, write to notify you that early this afternoon, Charlie went to his eternal reward with Jesus Christ in Heaven,” Turning Point USA said in a statement at the time.
Prior to his death, Charlie opened up about his experience with parenthood.
“Being a father is the greatest blessing. It teaches you, grows you, motivates you and changes you,” he wrote via Instagram in June while celebrating Father’s Day. “I pray daily for an uprising of strong Christian fathers in this country. That they would love God, love their wives and love their kids. Thank you, God, for healthy kids and an amazing wife to raise them with!”
In August, Charlie marked his daughter’s birthday by expressing his gratitude for his family.

“Teaching her to know God, alongside [Erika], is the greatest privilege,” he captioned an Instagram post at the time. “Having a family will change your life in the best ways, so get married and have kids. You won’t regret it.”
As for Erika, she gushed over her marriage to Charlie in May while celebrating their wedding anniversary.
“Four sacred years. My best friend, my warrior, my calm in every storm,” she wrote via Instagram. “We entered this covenant with open hearts, not knowing all that would come — but knowing who we were anchored in. We’ve laughed in the highs, we’ve wept in the lows and we’ve held the miracle of life in our arms twice.”
She continued: “You live the gospel — not just in word, but in the way you love, lead and serve. Through you, I’ve learned what it truly means to grow … as a wife, as a mother and as a woman called to walk this life beside you. It’s you and me — with God always at the center. I will always be grateful. I will always be yours. Eternity is ours [Charlie]; I love you baby.”
