Terry Bradshaw made his first public appearance since leaving Fox NFL Sunday with an illness, attending the book signing he promised he’d be ready for on Tuesday, November 18.

Dallas-based food influencer Mira Ruby shared a photo via Instagram from the signing at Neighbor Books in McKinney, Texas, showing Bradshaw, 77, behind a table, signing copies of the cookbook he and his family released in September.

Fox NFL Sunday host Curt Menefee told viewers at the top of the Sunday, November 16 broadcast that Bradshaw would be absent from the show that day.

“Terry Bradshaw is not with us,” Menefee, 60, said. “He came to work sick this morning, so he decided to go home. He’s not feeling well. We send him our love.”

Shortly after, Bradshaw took to Instagram to assure fans that the illness was nothing to worry about.

“Just in case you notice, won’t be on Fox today,” he shared via Instagram. “Just have a cold. All good.”

When a follower asked if he would still make the book signing, he assured them, “Yes. Will be all good by then.”

Bradshaw, a four-time Super Bowl champion and Pro Football Hall of Famer, has made a second career for himself on television since his retirement.

Tom Brady Critiques His Broadcasting Debut: ‘Definitely Things to Clean Up’

In 2001, he became the first former NFL player to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame after spending 17 years as a broadcaster, analyst and actor. He has been an analyst and cohost on Fox NFL Sunday since it debuted in 1994.

The football lifer revealed in February that he is already thinking about his retirement from TV.

“I told my wife before I left the hotel room, I was sitting there, I said, ‘I’ve got two years left at Fox. I’m 76,’” Bradshaw told Denver’s 104.3 The Fan. “It’s a young man’s game. I get that. Everybody wants their new [people].”

He also added that he would like to try and stay at Fox until the network hosts the Super Bowl again in 2029.

Tom Brady Admits ‘Mistakes’ in Broadcast Booth, More ‘Comfortable’ in Year 2

“I said, if we can get to the next Super Bowl, I’ll be 80. I think that’s time,” he said. “That’s pushing it.”

That’s a more measured take than the dark humor he expressed in 2023 at Super Bowl media days.

“I told Fox, if I could just die on the show — think about the ratings, right?” he said at the time. “I mean, are we not about ratings? That’d be huge.”

With his career winding down over the next few years, Bradshaw has started looking to the future of the industry. Legendary quarterback Tom Brady made his broadcast debut in 2024, and Bradshaw expressed confidence in his ability to transition to the booth in an exclusive conversation with Us Weekly.

“I want him to be great, and I think he will be,” Bradshaw told Us last year. “But we don’t know enough about him. Will we see a different side? Will he be funny? Will he be witty? Will he break the game down properly? I’m pulling for him, because television is not easy. You can’t lie to the camera because it picks it up.”

Bradshaw added, “He’s the kind of personality that television takes to. He’s quick, he’s witty, he’s funny, he’s likable, he’s knowledgeable. You’re comfortable when you listen to him. You like him.”
