Shahs of Sunset alum Mercedes “MJ” Javid’s estranged husband, Tommy Feight, asked a judge to shut down her demand for primary custody of their 6-year-old son, Shams, Us Weekly can exclusively report.
Feight, 53, filed court docs in response to the divorce petition filed by Javid, also 53, on Tuesday, November 18.
Javid, who filed her petition on October 17, cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the breakup. She asked that neither party be awarded spousal support. Javid also requested that she be granted primary physical and legal custody, with Feight being allowed visitation.
In his filing, Feight listed the date of marriage as April 21, 2018, and the date of separation as October 17 of this year. Javid listed the same date of separation in her paperwork.
Feight asked the court not to grant Javid sole custody and to award joint physical and legal custody.

He wrote, “I am an involved and committed father to our son.”
“I participate fully in his daily routine, including school drop-offs and pickups, bedtime, meals, activities and homework,” Feight said. “I have a strong, loving relationship with him and he is comfortable, safe and happy in my care.”
Feight said he currently shares responsibilities for his needs and said he is “able to continue a consistent and stable parenting schedule.”

He told the court, “I believe it is in our son’s best interest to have frequent and continuing contact with both parents. I respectfully request joint legal and physical custody, and a parenting schedule that reflects the involved role I have always had in his life.”
Feight did not check the boxes to indicate whether he was requesting spousal support or not.
As Us previously reported, Javid filed her own declaration over her request for primary custody.

“I have been the parent primarily involved in the caregiving and overall needs of our minor son. I take our son to school and pick him up every day. I also organize and take our son to his play-dates, parties, doctor’s, and dentist’s appointments,” Javid alleged. “Likewise, I am responsible for his extracurricular activities and school activities with little to no involvement from [Feight]. My hours of employment are entirely within my control which allow me the flexibility to continue being primarily responsible for our son in this way.”
She explained that she was not trying to “alienate [Feight] from our son.”
“I am more than happy to mutually agree to additional visitations or modifications in the best interest of our son,” Javid wrote in her filing.
The divorce comes months after Javid spoke highly of her ex on Instagram on June 15 for Father’s Day.

“Happy Father’s Day my love. You’re such a good dad. Shams Francis and I have the best times with you. And we don’t have as much fun unless we are with you. Best of times,” Javid said at the time.
Javid and Feight met in 2015 and got engaged the following year.
Javid spoke to Us about the divorce on November 15 at BravoCon. “I feel like, of course, it’s a difficult thing, but we’re gonna be good,” she said, “It’s very, very new and raw. So I’m still, like, processing like 99 percent of it as we speak.”
Javid starred on all nine seasons of Shahs of Sunset. The show was cancelled in 2022. However, Javid, along with her former Shahs costars Reza Farahan and Golnesa “GG” Gharachedaghi, will return to Bravo in the new reality show The Valley: Persian Style, which was announced during BravoCon 2025.
