New bodycam footage shows Real Housewives of Potomac alum Mia Thornton weeping while being arrested for theft.
Us Weekly previously confirmed that Mia, 40, was detained in Atlanta on Wednesday, November 19, for allegedly stealing furniture worth more than $11,000 from a condo she’d been renting.
“Officers assigned to Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport responded to a wanted person call at the Customs and Border Protection office,” read a statement by the Atlanta Police Department. “Officers identified the individual as Ms. Mia Fields-Thornton, who had an active City of Atlanta warrant related to a larceny involving an alleged furniture theft.”
In footage released by police, Mia quietly wept as an officer handcuffed her and escorted her through the airport and into a jail cell.

The police stated that she was “taken into custody without incident” and transported to the Fulton County Jail for processing.
Mia has yet to publicly address her arrest. Us has reached out for comment.
Police records obtained by Us on Wednesday allege that Mia stole furniture including TVs, radios and DVD players.
According to a larceny incident report, Andrea Sands, an employee at Encore Management, reported the alleged theft earlier this month on behalf of a client who lives in China and “owns one of the condo suites on their property.”

Sands told police that she “rented out the owned condo” to two people: Mia and Jared McGriff. She claimed that “without notifying anyone, [they] suddenly moved out of the unit in the middle of the night” on October 28 and “took all of the furniture,” which had been in the unit prior to their moving in. She also claimed the tenants took a flat-screen TV.
Us reached out to Sands and McGriff for comment.
In the bodycam footage, Mia can be heard mentioning that McGriff has a storage key.
“I just want him to put that furniture back, enough is enough,” she appeared to say, adding that she sent several emails to her “roommate” to put it back. “It’s ridiculous,” she added.

Mia previously starred in Bravo’s Real Housewives of Potomac for three seasons until departing the show earlier this year.
“With every new season comes a new beginning and I have some news to share,” Mia announced via Instagram in April. “My family and I have made the decision to relocate to Atlanta, and with that, I will not be returning to The Real Housewives of Potomac next season.”
She noted, “The past four seasons have been an unforgettable journey, one filled with growth, lessons, and so many incredible memories. I want to thank Truly Original, Bravo, NBCUniversal and Andy Cohen for believing in me and giving me the space to share my story. To my castmates: thank you for the laughs, the lessons, and the unforgettable moments. And to the amazing fans, your love and support has meant everything to me. I’ll always carry that with me.”
At the time, Mia concluded her announcement on a positive note.
“Big things are coming. ‘I don’t just make headlines — I make History,’” she teased. “Atlanta, brace yourself. The empire has expanded.”
Mia, a mother of three, shares son Jeremiah, 9, and daughter Juliana, 7, with estranged husband Gordon Thornton. She has an older son, Joshua, from a prior relationship.
She revealed in September 2023 that she and Gordon, 71, had separated. She later dated radio star Incognito before they parted ways in December of last year.
“Inc has worked really, really hard for his reputation and his career, he’s 20 years in as a syndication radio personality,” Mia said on Watch What Happens Live in January. “He feels as though this platform doesn’t align with his brand. I respect that and he will forever be my best friend. … It’s fine.”
