A man has been charged with further offences following a mass train stabbing in Huntingdon earlier this month.

Anthony Williams, 32, was previously charged with 10 counts of attempted murder, one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and one count of possession of a knife over the alleged attack on a LNER train from Doncaster to London on 1 November.

He was also charged with another count of attempted murder and possession of a knife over an incident at Pontoon Dock Docklands Light Railway (DLR) station, in east London, earlier the same day.

Williams, of Langford Road, Peterborough, has now been charged with seven more offences, all relating to incidents the day before the train stabbings on 31 October, including:

• Attempted murder of a 14-year-old boy at Henry Penn Walk, Peterborough.

• Attempted grievous bodily harm of a 28-year-old man at Viersen Platz, Peterborough.

• Attempted murder of a 22-year-old man near Pleasure Fair Meadow Road, Peterborough.

• Affray and possession of a bladed article in connection to an incident at Ritzy Barbers in Peterborough.

• Theft of knives from Asda supermarket in Stevenage.

• Common assault of a 31-year-old man onboard a train travelling between Hitchin and Biggleswade.

Williams did not attend the hearing at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday afternoon, was not asked to enter pleas and no application for bail was made.

He was again remanded into custody until a hearing at Cambridge Crown Court on 17 December.

British Transport Police Deputy Chief Constable Stuart Cundy said: “These are a significant set of new charges.

“Our investigation into the awful incident at Huntingdon has also focused on other offences previously reported to police or identified by our investigation.”

“We have worked closely with our colleagues in Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Police alongside the Crown Prosecution Service to bring these charges.

“I would once again like to stress the importance of not saying or publishing anything which might jeopardise or prejudice ongoing criminal proceedings, or the integrity of the investigation.”

Williams was remanded into custody when he appeared in court earlier this month to face charges relating to the major incident on board the train, which led to 11 people being treated in hospital.

He will appear before Cambridge Crown Court for charges in relation to the train incident on 1 December.

Train crew member Samir Zitouni, 48, who was credited with helping to save multiple lives, was discharged from hospital on Saturday after suffering serious injuries.
