Disgraced gubernatorial candidate Eliot Cutler, who served jail time for possessing images of child sexual abuse, has been accused of violating the terms of his probation by accessing sexually explicit material online and using unmonitored devices, the Ellsworth American reported Tuesday.
Cutler, 79, pleaded guilty to four felony counts of possessing child pornography in 2023 and spent roughly 8 months in jail, winning an early release for good behavior.
The new accusations come from his probation officer, who filed a motion to revoke his probation, according to the American.
Cutler has completed roughly one-third of his six years probation.
The probation officer claims that on Sept. 8, Cutler visited the website of a massage parlor in the San Francisco area and answered questions on a menu about his preferences in an escort, according to an affidavit cited by the American.
The search “coincided with a request from Cutler for a travel permit to go to California to see elderly friends,” the probation officer said.
Additionally, Cutler allegedly violated his probation on Oct. 2, by connecting to the internet with electronic devices that weren’t monitored as required.
Those devices were sent to the Maine State Computer Crimes Unit, which found that they had been reset, the probation officer said in his affidavit.
A hearing on the alleged violations has been scheduled for Dec. 16, according to the American.
