Many Democrats are up in arms about their defectors supporting the Republicans to end the shutdown and reopen the federal government. However, consider the following. President Donald Trump was likely never going to give in to the Democrats over healthcare. He would have run the country into the ground before he allowed that to happen. The defectors knew that.
The Democrats support the Affordable Care Act, and the Republicans, generally, do not. The Republicans say they will have a better plan. Trump has been saying that for several years, but there has been no plan.
Republicans won(?) this battle. They now own healthcare. Whatever happens next, they own it. It’s a little like a dog chasing a car. What do you do when you catch it?
Further, if Trump wants to send funds directly to us proletariat to buy our own healthcare and bypass the insurance companies, why doesn’t he just support universal healthcare like every other industrialized country that has better, less expensive healthcare that we do?
